you know how i said in the beginning that only the mage universe's people knew how to activate the portal rock and traverse between universes? yeah i was considering changing that but i got a better idea while i was writing this paragraph so we'll use the new idea instead.
the mage universe's people writes books about their magical universe and sometimes they bring the books over to other universes so they can learn about more stuff. but most of the people they gave the books to were very dumb and mean and didn't believe that there was an alternate universe where people cast spells and brew potions and create entirely new life forms. so the the mage-people's books were discarded and ignored, and no one knew or cared about magic. but this one librarian believed in other universes and decided to put the books in the biggest library in central universe. (he only put it in central universe, so the books didn't get much recognition in any of the other universes.) lots of people from central universe enjoyed reading the mage-universe's books, and some even tried following instructions on how to cast spells and do magic. now there's a whole section in the library filled with mage stuff like the original books from the mage universe, and also books by scientists that want to figure out how magic works.
so, the central universe knows about magic and spells and potions and stuff. great. but what does this mean for us? it means that quinn can go to the other universes and tell the other quinns that she can fix this mess. (by the way, quinn knew that the universe is messed up because the lake shows some magical reflections that show you what it just did. convenient, i know.) so, quinn went to the other universes and told the other quinns about what happened. (they could see her even though they weren't narrow-eyeds, because blank-eyeds only exist in central universe, so if they go to another universe they'll turn back to normal.) all the quinns agreed to come with central-quinn to the central universe and fix everything. and with that, they went to the space-time lake.. and sat there. just.. just sitting there. central-quinn had to say something important, and since she had returned to the central universe and turned back into a ghost, theo spoke for her. she said that if she changed up the space and time using the lake, no one would remember anything about all of this. all the quinns (and also theo) would start back at day one. pretty sad. but the quinns agreed to it anyway. so central-quinn put her hand into the water, and everything was fixed.
was it worth it, though?
.. i'm not sure.
THE END
yes i am bad at writing endings i know
the first concept i had for this story was part 3, where i thought up for a dialogue of a girl telling a boy "you're lucky that you can see me here. i only come to this amusement park once a year." i asked myself, "how'd that happen?" and i went backwards so that i knew what the story was about.
the idea of having a paper-universe was inspired by an animation idea i had for "mister blue sky" by electric light orchestra, where i originally only wanted the main character to be the main view of the animation, and i would just animate the background characters as paper-puppets. but then i thought it was weird that only the main character was fully animated and not made of paper, and so quinn was born.
i combined those two ideas together and now here we are.
thank you for reading.
