Cupid's POV

I flap my soft, feathery wings and float around the park, hiding behind flowery bushes and not resisting to sniff the sweet roses.

I keep my eye on the ginger-haired girl and aim one of my cute little pink arrows at her. I make sure that I've got my target right where I want her and release the arrow so that it glides through the air to find its way to her heart. Once it has reached her, I notice the girl hold her hand to her chest before she walks along the path again.

My arrow comes back to me and lands in the bow, ready to plunge into the girl's true lover's heart. I check my heart device and see the lover's location. I flap my wings once more and head off to go and find him.

Thomas' POV

"So what would your perfect boyfriend be like then?" My best friend Teresa asks me.

"Well... they'd be sweet and romantic... buy me chocolates and flowers... write me poems... be really cheesy—"

"Cheesy? You can't seriously want a cheesy boyfriend, Tom!" She interrupts me.

"What? Wouldn't it be kinda cute?" I argue. I'm a hopeless romantic and I've always wanted a boyfriend that is cheesy and romantic like me. It would be so sweet if they would randomly tell me how sweet I am, or how amazing and perfect I am. Even though, personally, I think I that am far from those.

"Wouldn't you like someone who is the opposite of what you are?" Teresa questions me, her blue eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"The opposite of me? Wouldn't that just lead to arguments?"

"Perhaps. But it would be more interesting and you would get to try new things."

"You do have a point," I admit. "But you know that I'm a sucker for romance, and I'd like someone to be like me."

"Picky." She mutters.

"Hey, I heard that!" I tell her, my eyes wide.

She rolls her ocean eyes at me but I notice the smile playing on her lips. "All that matters is that you love them, I guess."

"If only I actually had someone to love." I say sadly, staring at my shoes as if they're actually interesting.

I feel an hand on my shoulder and look up to see Teresa smiling at me kindly. "You'll find someone soon, Tom. I just know it."

"Thank you." I say and give her a small smile.

We carry on walking through the park, teasing each other about past crushes and just laughing, enjoying ourselves.

Cupid's POV

My phone suddenly starts ringing just when I am about to pierce someone's heart with love.

"Hello?" I say, irritated.

"I have a new couple for you, Cupid."

"That's really great and all, but not when I'm supposed to make two people fall in love right this second!"

"I'm sure they can wait five minutes."
