5 years later
A small child runs through the house with his mother on his tail. He runs into a wall smashing his head against it. His mother rushed up to him and pulled him into a hug.
Laura: come here little one, there there, it's okay.
Y/n: it hurts.
Laura: you're going to be fine.
Y/n: it still hurts.
Laura: just leave it alone for a while and it'll go away.
Y/n: *sniff* okay.
Laura: you hungry?
Y/n: yes, grilled cheese!
Laura: alright, I'll make you a grilled cheese sandwich. Go watch TV
Y/n: okay!
Y/n runs into the living room, turns the TV on, and watches Spongebob. Laura smiles and walks into the kitchen to make y/n's sandwich. When she is done, she calls y/n into the kitchen. Y/n runs into the dining room and sits in a chair. Laura places his sandwich in front of him and he giddily jumps in his seat. He then takes a bite of his sandwich and smiles.
Laura: do you like it?
Y/n: mhm!
Laura: *chuckles* at least someone likes my cooking.
Y/n's fingers were covered in cheese as he finished his sandwich. He licked his fingers and ate the cheese on his fingers. Laura chuckled at his little antics as y/n smiled. Y/n got down from the table and threw the paper plate in the trash. He then takes a ladder and places it next to the sink. He climbs to the top and starts washing his hands.
Laura: need help y/n?
Y/n: yes mama, I can't reach the soap.
Laura grabs the soap and puts some on y/n's hands. She then walks into the dining room and cleans the table. She began to think about her job and how it affects her son. Laura wasn't home form most of the time, so she had Katherine Pryde (Kitty Pride) take of her son while she was on missions. Many of Laura's friends thought that her job compromised her relationship with her son.
Laura heard a knock on the door and answered it. She saw Katherine at the door standing in the rain. She told Katherine to come in, took her coat, and placed it on a rack. Katherine sat on the couch in the living room.
Laura: Katherine, what brings you here?
Katherine: nothing really, I just thought I'd come to visit.
Y/n: Auntie Kathy!
Katherine: hey little guy, how's my favorite nephew doing.
Y/n: I'm doing okay, I cleaned my room.
Katherine: you did? So I won't step on your megablocks and legos?
Y/n: nope!
Katherine: now I need to talk to your mother about something.
Y/n: okay bye!
Y/n runs upstairs leaving Laura and Katherine alone to talk.
Laura: that was fast...
Katherine: he's become really scared of me since last time he tried to eavesdrop on us. He ran like the wind and hid from me.
Laura: so that's why he was shaking in his room the minute you left that night.
Katherine: yeah.
Laura: so how is it at the mansion?
Katherine: it's great. what about you, still worried about y/n becoming distant?
Laura: it's just that I'm gone all the time and I'm rarely around y/n nowadays. The days I'm with him make me wish I was there for him all the time.
Katherine: let me tell you something about y/n.
Laura: what?
Katherine: he's always happier when he sees you even for a moment. He really loves you. Everyday he waits for you and tells me about what he's going to do with you when you get home. He holds the moments you're with him close to him.
Laura: I never thought about it that way.
Katherine: he waits at the front door holding his blankie and eats donut holes.
Laura: that is so adorable...his birthday is today, is the party prepared?
Katherine: yes, I have his first present in the car.
Laura: it's a dog, isn't it?
Katherine: nope, it's two dogs.
Laura: really?
Katherine: of course.
Laura: I need to get to the party.
Katherine: alright go, I'll keep y/n occupied.
Katherine leaves the house and goes towards her car. She opens the door and two puppies come out. They rush to the front door and enter the doggie door. Katherine reenters the house and sits on the couch.
Katherine: told you.
Laura: yes, you did.
Katherine: now you won't have to feel guilty leaving y/n now that he has a few friends to play with.
Laura: thanks, now I have to go *whispering* see you at the party.
Laura left for the park and found that the party was ready. Meanwhile y/n was having the time of his life with his new pets. He took to naming them Selena and Helena. He was then brought to the park and had his eyes closed. When he was told to open them, everyone yelled out "surprise!" Y/n saw his mother and smiled before crying tears of joy before hugging his mother's legs. Laura picked y/n up and smiled before hearing something endearing come from y/n.
Y/n: *crying tears of joy* I love you so much, mommy!
Laura: I love you too, sweetheart.
Laura put y/n in front of his cake. He looked at his candle and made a wish before blowing it out. Laura then cut her son a piece of cake and placed it in front of him. Everyone stared at their kids before allowing them to go play after they were finished eating.
After a couple hours they heard a scream. They looked to see a child being taken by a stranger. Y/n stood there before his rage kicked in as his claws came out of his hands. He rushed towards the man screaming. The man let go of the little girl and ran away with y/n on his tail. Y/n jumped and smashed his claws into the man's back repeatedly stabbing him. Laura finally got y/n to calm down and the man was taken to the hospital.
Katherine: well, we know what his powers are at least.
Laura: why does he have three?
Katherine: because male's have three while female's have two, however he doesn't have any foot claws.
Laura: oh...should've figured that out myself.
Katherine: yeah.
Y/n: look mommy, I have claws just like you!
Laura: yes you do sweetheart.
After y/n opened his presents, the girl he saved gave him a hug. After a couple more hours, everyone left once the decorations were picked up. Laura took her son who had a stomach ache, home. Once they arrived Laura picked up the boxes and put them in the garage while her son walked inside with his new puppies. Once she was finished, she closed the garage, locked it, and walked back to the car.
Laura gets her friend Katherine to help her with y/n's toys. They brought the toys inside and into y/n's room. Later that night y/n found himself on his bed dozing off when his mother came into his room. Laura walked up to y/n and smiled. She sat next to y/n when he wrapped his arms around her in a soft embrace.
Y/n: *sleepily* love you, mommy.
Laura: I love you too, sweetie.
Y/n then lays down on the bed while his mother plants a kiss on his forehead. She then leaves the room and enters her own before changing into her pajamas. She then lays down on her bed and falls asleep. Y/n however falls asleep while his pets cuddle up to him.
