I heard the keys jingle in the door for an odd amount of time, I looked up from my book and heard my mom.

"Stupid piece of shit door," she sounded extremely frustrated. "ACE FOR FUCKS SAKE HELP ME PLEASE!" She pounded on the door a few times.

"Sorry ma!" And with a flick of my wrist the door unlocked and mom came rushing in. I heard her set down her set down her things and her tired steps made their way towards me.

"Y'know, you were SO LUCKY to inherit your dad's powers, but you never use them for anything convenient."  She slapped her arms by her side, walking to the kitchen.  I heard her open the fridge door, followed by the sound of a soda can opening.
She walked back into the living room and sat down. She turned on the tv and the news was on, displayed was the elf hybrid that was running for president. Things were looking good for her.
The election was tomorrow night.

"Did you get your studies done?" She asked, changing the channel to something I couldn't care less about. I was trying to turn my      attention back to my book but replied with a "Yes ma."

"Y'know you need to pick up your grades." She said, I sighed and got up "I'm going to my room." I stated. I walked down the small hall of our apartment and got to my
door. I opened it and took in the sight of my room, I had posters of artists I like. None of them were human. I can't stand humans, they're so stuck up. And just because we are different, they
treat us so cruelly.

My gaze fell upon my dresser, the small picture of me and my dad I picked it up. I looked so small, and my dad has his big beard. I hate humans, and only for the reason that they took my dad away from me. I set the picture back down and looked at his ashes, I felt a frown spread across my face and tears prickle at my eyes.

I inhaled sharply and turned around from my dresser
I looked at my bed i layed down but winced "oh yeah i should probably take that off" I said with a huff.
i got up again and took off my shirt revealing my binded chest, mom doesn't know and she's not going to. And properly binding isn't in my crystal ball. I looked in the mirror, I have been using
athletic tape for years now my breath hitched at the pain as I unraveled the tape. It was starting
to get worse, I looked at my ribs and noticed major bruising.
"okay maybe i should take it easy for now" i walked to my closet grabbing my oversized hoodie
and slipping it on and crawling back in bed i slowly felt myself drift off to sleep.
