"Something is just different about her, like she's more than a normal four-year-old. She learned how to speak at eleven months! She can read, and understand everything around her, but she's always been so ...quiet," said Mom worriedly.
"What do you mean Miss Cafern?" asked Dr. Mignolla, getting puzzled.
"She never cries, pouts, yells, screams, she hardly ever talks! I know I'm a 'first-time-mom', but shouldn't all kids be, well, loud? Another thing is, ever since I took her in, she never got sick. I even checked with the orphanage she was at and they also said they don't remember her ever getting sick either. She also has white hair, white hair! ...did you find out if anything is wrong medically?" Mom asked.
A few silent seconds passed by.
Dr. Mignolla sighed. "Mckayla is a healthy child, I'm sure there is nothing to worry about," she looked in the scared eyes of my mother, "If something strange does begin to happen, feel free to call any time, but I can assure you that Mckayla is healthy and quite smart."
"Okay," Mom looked down at me, "Come on Kayla."
I took her hand, she thanked the doctor, and we headed to the hospital's parking lot. I closed my eyes so I couldn't see them. The things that were always around me, the thing that is wrong with me.
