in which ivy ( eye — vee ) has a surprisingly interesting summer with her best friends, the pogues.
IVY HOLLIS was far from rich. having a single, alcoholic mother, she was an outcast among nearly everyone in outer banks, except the pogues. the four best friends took ivy in with open arms and wide smiles, excepting the fact that she was just like them.
they all quickly became close, especially kiara and ivy. ivy learned that kie was once a kook, a rich kid on the other side of the island, and didn't give a shit about what others thought of her, making ivy look up to her. the two girls were the best of friends and spent most of their time drinking and making fun of the boys.
the crazy of the group, JJ maybank, took quite a liking to the spontaneous new girl. he flirted sarcastically but he knew if the opportunity came upon him, he'd scoop her up in his arms and give her what she wanted for nothing in return, he was good like that. they also bonded off the relationships they had with their parents, that brought them closer than nearly everyone in the group.
the ringleader of the group, john b. routledge, formed the most perfect brother-sister bond with the curly-headed girl anyone had ever seen. they hung out nearly more than kiara and ivy did. ivy knew that john b's dad had gone missing at sea, but she didn't treat him any differently because of that, to which he was grateful for.
the brains of the operation, pope heyward, did what he usually did ( acted like he didn't give a shit ) when in reality he actually really liked her & was super glad that she joined their small gang. ivy was like their missing piece that had finally been found.
ivy loved them with all her whole heart & was so grateful that she met them. she found her family and they loved her just as much as she loved them.
together, they were a family of misfits who loved one another & didn't need anything else.
