1 - EPILOGUE | 'The beginning'

It's unlikely to see someone apart from the royal family to be out and about after the clock tower chimes 3 rings sharply at 9 o'clock. It's the hour for everyone to be tucked in bed, ready for the new sun and if not so, then at least guarded in the safety of their abode. The royal blooded - or anyone under their personal favours, would come out only in dire orders of the majesty himself. Other than so, everyone is forbidden to ever even set a toenail into the moonlight without his word.

But our Prince Jungkook, son of King Jeon, is a mischievous one.

Or in other words, he has a keen eye for nature at its finest under the lambency.

He would rather leave out his prized marble carvings in the rain for them to lose their pearly glimmer than miss the view of the darkened moon, which can only be seen a few times annually. Something which I, the author and nearly nobody in the kingdom nor town understood. What's the point of the moon, if there is no moonlight? What is the excitement and beauty of a heap of rock in the middle of the galaxy, just existing amongst everything without a purpose?

These were all useless questions to him.

Something about the dim light of his candelabra in his hands as he rode through the thick bushes just behind the castle gave him a sense of tranquillity like nothing else. The quietude of his mind accompanied by the lulling sounds of the atmosphere was all he ever needed.

Coincidentally, tonight is one of those nights. Tonight; a lunar eclipse is said to be seen, confirmed by what the royal astronomer has predicted, the first one of the year, and Jungkook had been waiting since the first chime of the clock tower.

A bottle of wine in hand, he was waiting for time to go by faster. Although, the delay didn't seem to bother him as much. The ambience along with the intoxicating beverage was more than an enjoyable activity for him.

Finally, he thought, as the moon became darker, covered by a mauve veil. Jungkook looks at the mesmerising orb and strides towards the pond ahead. Taking in the view and listening to all the calming noises when suddenly, he hears a rumble. A thrush almost, coming through the bushes just to his right.

Curious, Jungkook gets off of his horse, walking towards the sound to investigate.

And that is where he sees him.
