"W-who are you."  A young woman stammered as she took in the unsightly scene in her porch. A raggedy man stood in front of her with deep gashes marring his face and burns or blisters- the woman couldn't tell covered every inch of his exposed skin.

"Help me." The man wheezed, coughing and hacking-spitting out blood in the process.

The woman winced at his pitiful state and backed away.

"How did you get here," The woman lived in a cottage in a remote area with no houses to be seen for miles, no one could have gotten this far in the state that man was, strangers  rarely drove near her house let alone randomly ringing the door bell and calling for help.

"I-i don't remember," he narrowed his eyes like he was trying to access something but couldn't get ahold of it. "I just remember being in a-lot of pain and..."

"And what?"

"I-i don't know."

The woman studied him closely, he seemed genuinely confused but that wasn't gonna convince her, she lived alone-there  was no way she was letting him in.

"Im sorry, i'll call 911 but you're staying out here."

Before he could protest ,she slammed the door in his face.

"Please." His accented voice croaked  from the other side, " I just need medical help, do i really look like i could h"-he resumed into another fit of coughing,-"hurt someone.

The woman suddenly felt pity for the injured man, it was really strange that he was wandering around such a remote area with amnesia but that didn't mean he deserved to be left out in the cold in such a condition. And plus she didn't live alone without knowing how to defend herself.

"Fine,"  she said as she opened the door to let him in, "But you try anything funny, I'll make you wish you never came to me.

At the hospital the woman thought to her self,

What was she doing.

The guy she had rescued could have been dangerous for all she knew. And she was pretty sure any sane person would have ran away screaming.

"Ms.Freeman,The patient is ready to see you ." The nurse's voice brought her out of her pondering.

"Ah,yes,I'm coming."Natalie Freeman said as she steeled her nerves,

When she entered the patient's room, the man-she had come to know as Aaron was in much better condition than before, he was cleaned up and bandaged but his cuts on his face were too deep not to leave scars.

He smiled at her with his colbalt blue eyes crinkling at the sides and Natalie could have sworn she had seen them before

"Thank you, for rescuing me." Aaron croaked. "Most people wouldn't go out of their way for some random stranger covered in scars begging at their front door"

It was just...impulse," Natalie told him and she was telling the truth. For some reason when she first saw Aaron, Natalie had a strong desire to help him.She didn't even care whether he was dangerous or not-all that mattered was bringing him to a hospital

"By the way, I never caught your name." Aaron said

When Natalie told him. "It's Natalie,Natalie Freeman." Something passed over his face-something that almost looked like recognition and Natalie thought she had imagined as guilt but it disappeared as quickly as it came.

"I'm sorry." He whispered looking down

"For what."

"Many things."

Natalie waited for him to elaborate but he closed his eyes and said nothing more..
