It was a crisp autumn breeze and the city, Chicago, was still asleep. There were barely some souls running about but were too fast to note that they were present. A young girl, Lily, carelessly wandered the city as daybreak was near. As she turned corners a familiar morning smell teased her to follow. As she followed her nose she entered a coffee shop and decided to take a seat by the window. She placed her order and started to drink her coffee as she watched the people outside. As the beverage's warmth began to consume her, she received a message, from her friends, to go to the movies. She sent them a confirmation text of her arriving at the theaters in 15 minutes. She then left her seat and started to head out. The minute she arrived at the crosswalk, music that was being played attracted her ears. Her heart told her to go, but her mind reminded her that she had to meet up with her friends. Her body decided to take control and take her to the music. She reached the area where the music was being let loose and was taken into the air. She arrived at the park, where flowers at the entrance released their sweet perfume. While an umbrella of trees greeted her with shade. In the distance of her sight, she spotted a free space that held three people. She started to have an internal battle with herself of going near them or acting like a person who was just passing by.
Lily's POV
"Should I keep going or approach them?" Lily asked herself. She took a few more steps and came to a halt when she saw a bench. As she took her seat, she was given a better view of the couple being enchanted by the music that was surrounding them. Lily spotted a man sitting on the other side with a sketchbook. Ignoring her surroundings she decided to take upon a book she had in her bag and started to read.
Willow's POV
Meanwhile, in a universe of their own, a couple was a slave to the music that surrounded them.
"Pretty, no beautiful," Willow said in almost a whisper as she kept a secretive eye at Lilly.
"Hmmm... What do you mean?" Noah said as he stopped dancing. His eyes looked for Willow's seeking an answer. Willow swiftly took her gaze from Lilly to Noah. Her hair's curls bounced as they mimicked her movements. Her eyes connected with Noah's hazel swirly eyes that yearned for an answer.
"Don't you think Adam should join us by now?" Willow commented as she slightly tilted her head to the side.
" Yes, but Adam doesn't have a partner so he'll be dancing with the wind," Noah said jokingly.
Willow then continued to dance and took Noah to have a view of the lady. " Well, it seems the heavens have decided to send a partner for him."
Willow decided to leave Noah and rushed to the lady.
Lilly's POV
" Hey, a pretty girl can you dance with us?" Right at that moment, all my undivided attention was taken by this female. I then pointed to myself and asked, " me?" The female then nodded her head up and down, like a little girl, and came running up to me. Before I could answer, she took me by the wrist and pulled me with her.
" Wait here," she said as she rushed to the side of a young man and dragged him to where I was standing. "You two will be dance partners, okay? Okay," and just like that she left with a smile and went back to her partner. I then look at the man in front of me and give him an awkward smile.
"Hi, sorry about my sister Willow over there. She's a little wild, but at the same time tries to do what's best."
"It's fine, I was just stunned by her presence," I commented as I gave a reassuring smile.
" My name is Adam, by the way."
" Lily," I responded.
" Well Lily, may I have this dance?" Adam commented as he closed the distance between us.
I smiled and answered yes. We started dancing and subconsciously became one unit. We danced into perfect harmony as the city became more awake. Time became a concept that has been thrown out the window, as we kept dancing. Suddenly, my phone started ringing, bringing my reality to crash down.
" Hello?"
" Lily! Where the hell are you!?"
" Sorry, I kinda started to wander around, but don't worry I am on my way."
" It's fine, I just became worried since you're so punctual."
" Okay mom, see you soon," I sarcastically responded.
" If I were your mom this call would not have been happening, but anyway bye ."
I hung up and looked up to Adam. His eyes seem to be filled with millions of questions.
" I have to go," I tell Adam. "My friends are waiting for me."
Adam physically relaxed and offered me a ride. Wanting to say no, my mouth decided to agree to his offer. The car ride to the theater was shorter than expected. Adam and I got to know each other more, again the concept of time evaporated the moment we started talking. As soon as we got to the theater my friend, Carolina, screamed, " it's about time you got here, ya casi pensé que te muristes!"
Although Carolina joked about me being dead, I didn't realize that death was near. Adam got out of the car, and at that exact moment, a car crashed into him. I called the ambulance and went to Adam as his blood puddled around him. As I got closer to Adam my sight started to blur to the point of not seeing anything. I rubbed my eyes until I was at the park where I first met Adam.
