"You got me detention.""Is that what they call it in the human world?" Jimin asks as he picks at his nails.
"Yes, I've been learning about them. We do get to take that trip into their world soon..."
"Not if we can't stay outta trouble," he says crossing his arms and sucking on his teeth. "We would've never gotten caught if you wouldn't have let your fairy temper go off the edge," I say crossing my arms as well."Oh, don't act like you're innocent, Devyn."
"You know who you remind me of? A cartoon character from their world..."
"What does he look like?"
"Her name is Tinkerbell and she has blonde hair, and a fat ass," I chuckle and Jimin stares at me with his heated gaze."Don't be jealous cuz yours is little," he laughs dryly. "Whatever! You turn red as a tomato when you're angry, and the only girls attracted to you are practically invisible." The look in his eyes softens and he pouts in defeat.
"The Chief will see you two now," Mrs. Leebam says as she floats out of his office. She was his wife and everyone knew it. She'd never let a moment pass without calling him her husband and I was surprised she referred to him as Chief today.
As soon as we enter the dark Victorian universe of Mr. Leebam's office, Jimin opens his fat mouth without hesitation. "Sup, Bob," he pops carelessly. "That's Mr. Leebam to you, Jimin," he says, facial expression as hard as ever on his old wrinkled face. His blue eyes still held lots of youth, which told me he was probably a fun guy outside of this boarding school.
"Devyn, I'm sick of seeing you and this boy in my office every day. I've gotten wind from your Cauldron Basics teacher that you've been excited about the trip into the human realm...even conjuring up spells to peep into their world. You're a good student so I'm going to count this as strike one. Three strikes—"
"You're out, yeah yeah, we get it. Classic american baseball phrase," Jimin says swinging his head lazily.Mr. Leebam was used to Jimin's shenanigans meaning his disrespect was an everyday thing he learned to not take personally.
"Jimin!" I yell at him.
"What?"
"That's why the humans don't truly believe in you..."
"I really don't care—""Anyway," Mr. Leebam says cutting in. "I don't want to see you two in my office again for a while, are you understanding me?" He says in his english accent. His voice reminded me of the taste of walnuts. Well at least that's what the humans call them.
Once we were done talking to Mr. Leebam, I headed toward the Locker room to take off my sweaty Gym uniform when Jimin stopped me. "Hey doofus, what did you mean they don't believe in me?"
I turn around as I feel his hand on my shoulder and stare at him. "They've reduced you to stealing teeth and spreading pixie dust everywhere," I say dryly before walking away.
