Jay creeped out of the casino and fell onto one of the metal benches. He mentally slapped himself for being so ignorant. The person who stole his future was offering it to him on a silver plater and dare to question if it was real.
If it Hadn't been for the offer, Rowan was flirting right off the bat just with the side glances.
Jay was for sure changed, in a never going into a casino again way. So with a sigh, Jay lifted himself off the bench and turned to go home.
That was until a gunshot rang out of ally way.
If only the saying curiosity killed the cat was singing in his head, Jay put his phone on speed dial for 911 and stalked into the shaded path.
When Jay heard voices, he new exactly who was talking. Rowan. Jay sprinted to the closest dumpster and crouched down low.
The conversation quickly turned south, as a faint voice turned from whispers to screaming pleas within seconds. Jay had to strain hard to hear the other side of the conversation after pressing the record button on his camera
"Look, buddy, pal, friend, I would love to let you live, but you gambled away ten times the amount you had in your pocket, which was almost all of the money we loaned you to triple the size. You pushed over the edge and it's bad for our company to be in deb. So think of it as you're life is going to pay off the money you lost." Rowan said calmly while clicking something, presumably a gun off of safety.
"Please don't do this, I can make it up I swear on my life! please I have a family to go home to! PLEASE," the other man begged.
"It's ok, he'll put it in you're head so your death is peaceful," a calmer, higher pitched man said.
The mans screaming was muffled all of a sudden. Jay poked his head around the corner to see a third man wrenching the beggars hand behind his back then tilting his head forward.
Adrenaline kicked into Jays veins, while possibilities of outcomes flashed in his mind.
He could run and never look back, like a cowered. He could stay put and call the cops, like a chicken. Or run in to save a life like a true man would.Jay was ripped out of his thoughts as a gunshot rung out. He held his breath, not wanting any sound to slip out.
"Now that thats done, I'm thirst can we go get a drink from the bar?" The honey voiced one said while dropping the limp body.
"You can get one later, let's leave before we're found." The second one said.
"Can't we stay a bit longer? I was just getting to know this very cute un experience gambler," Rowan said referring to Jay. The single thought of someone calling him cute other then his mother made Jay gag.
"If you so wish, just don't jeopardize our mission. Alex you find the boy and let's get out of here," the second one said. So the honey voiced one is Alex, so that must mean the last is the oldest, Elias.
As Jay pondered this, the threes foot steps came closer. The death of this innocent person, and his reputation decides Jays next move. Big mistake.
"But you see I think he's the kid we're-,"
"Unless you want to be arrested, you better not move!" Jay leaped out from his hiding spot.
The three looked unaffected from Jays sudden appearance, in fact, Rowan started laughing hysterically, Alex looked amused, and Elias just gazed at Jay.
"What do you think your threatening us with?" Alex asked.
"I have video proof," Jay said, holding out his phone.
"Look, give us the phone and we'll leave our troubles behind us," Alex said composed himself.
"Why didn't you say that to the person you just slaughtered back there, your heartless," Jay exclaims while backing up.
"It was his time, and maybe yours if you don't hand the phone to us," Alex repeats, slowly closing in.
"Even then, there's cameras, the police can find out who killed them!" Jay quickly threw out.
"Not if there's nobody to report said crime," Alex says right before lunging our and tackling Jay, pinning him down while pulling the phone out of his grasp. The sound of cracking plastic filled the air.
That was it, Jay had had it with these men.
Jay threw his weigh to the side, throwing Alex off balance. He scrambled up but was immediately thrown up against the ally wall.
"Look I know you mean no harm but what's the point of ratting us out?" Rowan questioned while trapping Jay between him and the wall.
"So people like you are no longer a threat," Jay spat out.
"So people like me, who offered you you're fathers money back, is a threat?" The ginger asked while growing closer to Jays face.
"Row, stop taunting him," Alex said while brushing himself off.
"Maybe there's another way we can solve this," Rowan said while ghosting his fingers down Jays cheeks.
"You are a determined person," Alex pointed out.
"Let him have his fun, we've found the boy so there's no point for violence," Elias said while walking past the mess, kicking the broken phone pieces in the process.
"I will find a way to expose you," Jay claim, trying to push Rowans invasive fingers away.
"Oh there's other ways to keep ones mouth shut without killing or cutting out a tongue," Rowan silently chuckled. I looked at him, hoping it wasn't kidnapping and torturing.
"That would involve something about your father gambling your future away, if that's you then I'm mistaken," the ginger said.
How could it slip Jays mind! How did they know that was his father and Jay was his son!
"Seeming as your face says it all, you don't know, it's quite easy actually. Bribery," he said, face now centimeters away.
Jay needed to stop being so fooled by this man, he needed to stay focused. With Jays life on the line, he put on a brave face.
"Who says you can bribe me with gold rings?," Jay asked with a questioning tone.
"The only person with three cats, a cherry red motorbike, multiple gold plated silverware sets and an array of gold rings. A.K.A me," Rowan said while caressing Jay's jaw.
"I won't take your damn money," Jay spat out.
"Very well I guess I'll just have to take you," Rowan said. Before Jay could register what the ginger just said, his head was slammed hard against the brick wall behind him.
Jay fell limp as the pain sprinted through his skull. His head swam as the strong arms of Rowan hauled him up. Then Jays vision faded to black.
