chap 1: promise

"YOU F*CKING PROMISED ME THAT YOU WOULD BE WITH ME FOREVER! YOU GAVE ME THAT PROMISE RING THAT WE BOTH WEAR! YOU F*CKING LIED TO ME, YOU LIAR! WHY?!"
you said with tears streaming down your face and lightly hitting Levi's shoulder as you cried. All he could do was hug you and apologize over and over again. Levi was suffering from heart failure and it finally failed him. He wanted to at least donate his other organs that could help others and the surgery for that was scheduled in a week. After you calmed down in Levi's arms, he told you what he wanted to do for the last week of his life and it was the final promise that would ever be said between you two again. A week passes on and you do everything Levi's ever wanted to do but now it was time to go to the hospital. Hange and Erwin went to accompany you two. Before Levi was sent off to surgery, he asked Hange and Erwin one last thing and all they did was nod and say goodbye. Before he could even talk, he was encased in your arms and you looked at him on his bed and kissed him one last time. His final words were "𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉, 𝒀/𝑵." and you just cried there sitting with Hange and Erwin. After some time a doctor and Levi's lawyer called for you but you couldn't even process the whole thing yet, Hange went in your place. She came back saying "uhm Y/N, Levi left everything that he had in your name." and all you did was nod. They took you home and you changed into Levi's hoodie and cuddled up with a pillow he had given you. Usually at this time, you and Levi would be eating dinner but you decided to skip and just stayed in bed. Erwin gave you a week off from work to process everything. After that week was over, you hadn't even realized that Levi was gone. You still stayed in bed in his hoodie. Few more days had passed on and Erwin and Hange decided to check on you. They entered your apartment and it was surprisingly clean, no dishes needed to be done, the training room was all clean and aired out, the studies were organized and so was the living room. Finally they entered the master bedroom and found you sleeping like a log but something was off. They both thought to theirselves "Y/N is pretty small but I don't think she's that small." They pulled the blanket down and found you so thin and frail, you hadn't eaten all this time, you hadn't even moved, that's why everything was so clean. It was never touched. Beside you was just a bottle of water that you've been drinking out of every time you were thirsty. Erwin picked you up and ran down the apartment building into his car with Hange and immediately drove to the hospital. Once you woke up, you found yourself hooked up to machines and a concerned Hange looking over at you. "Where am I?" is all you could ask, Hange replied

"Y/N, you're in the hospital. Have you eaten in the past few days?"
"I don't think so. I just drank water."

All she could think was "oh sh*t". Erwin walked into the room after talking with the doctor and spoke to Hange. Their faces could say everything. Finally they came over to you.

"Uhm Y/N you're in the hospital cause you're malnourished right now and the doctor said you can recover within a week."
"I don't want to recover."
- it was at this moment they knew that you hadn't processed anything and you weren't going to move on but they wanted to fulfill their promise to Levi and Erwin pulled out a note from his pocket and gave it to you

"Dear Y/n,
Sorry that I can't be with you and yeah yeah I know I can't change that but I have a gift for you. Erwin and Hange have it and I hope you like it, baby girl. I love you!

After reading the letter, they told you that he had his... sperm cells like kept so that you could have a child if you wanted. It was the last thing you had of Levi and you obviously wanted to bear his child. You agreed to receive treatment to be able to bear his child. After a week, you were discharged and you scheduled your appointment a week later. Once you got home, you and your friends ate together. You finally decided to go through Levi's things one by one with Hange and Erwin. First was his desk, one drawer after another and all you found was paperwork. In the final drawer, Erwin handed you a key to open it and you found a ton of letters from Levi addressed to you and each with a corresponding gift that was in the his safe. You went through them and opened each gift while Erwin and Hange were organizing the paperwork. Everything he left had sentimental value that was connected to everything you had done together. You got to the final letter which was different from the others, it was sealed with Levi's personal wax seal. You opened it and read it. It was Levi's engagement speech and wedding vows, taped to the bottom of the paper were two rings. One ring with a diamond and another with his name engraved on it. You put one each on your ring fingers. You looked at your hands, the left had the engagement ring and your right hand had the promise ring on the middle finger and the wedding ring on the ring finger. On your right wrist was also a bracelet Levi gave you on your first anniversary. You left your room and went over to Hange and Erwin telling them the news, that you were changing your last name, and they were so happy for you. Everything had seem like it was coming together and you were finally moving on. Which you were. They left your apartment after fixing the paperwork and you went to bed. You cuddled up with your pillow and a teddy bear, Levi left for you, and let out a heavy breathe and went to sleep.
