Just Another Day

Day 1

It was another day in LA, everyone was just so busy working, playing, having fun, and spending time with their families, touring this great city in California. I, on the other hand, was sitting with my back pressed against the smooth concrete beam which held up one of the many bridges in LA. You're probably wondering why I would be on one of those beams that support the bridge.

My name Felix, age 23, and live life to the fullest to the best of my ability. Photographer at heart, I have a few friends but unfortunately no family. My mum passed away as she was diagnosed with cancer while my father passed away in a horrible car accident which I can't even bear to think about. This all happened 4 years ago when I was 19. I currently work at a local restaurant cooking the finest meals in LA. I normally work weekly and get my weekends off, which is perfect.

Now I still didn't tell you why I'm sitting on this beam. So this particular bridge as a small ledge I use to climb my way down and under the bridge. The view is always breathtaking in the city, I come down here if I just need a breather or just to chill. Below me was LA's concrete drain. Some times in the late afternoons I see homeless people around a barrel with fire, embracing the warmth.

This afternoon was different than another afternoon when I climb down to my favorite spot. Work started to get harder, friends moved across states for different degrees and preferably better work. Looking down at my phone realizing it was getting late. I gradually stand up to climb the concrete ledge but stop as I see a bright green light in the sky, it only appeared for a few seconds then disappeared. I was puzzled but ignored thinking I was just seeing stuff.

Climbing up the concrete ledge, making sure no one saw me in case they thought I was committing suicide as I hang on the side of the bridge. Making it to the walkway, chucking my hoodie over my head as I walked slowly back into the main part of the city. I lived in a fairly poor looking apartment. Being a chef was great but my boss doesn't pay me good enough to have anything nice.

I walked for several minutes before opening the old doors which creaked loudly. Walking upstairs to room 33. Opening the door to my room and locking it behind me. Placing my bag down and quickly hopping into the shower letting the cold water flow over my body. I washed up and put on some shorts. I slowly made my way to my bed looked towards the glass window which acted as a sunroof. Watching the stars until I saw the same green light flash again.

I immediately get up from my bed and check the news or updates of strange flashes of green dots in the night sky.  "0 results found," I say sighing. I was puzzled but chose to ignore it once again. Probably some weird shit going on I headed off to bed for another day of work.

Next morning.

I groan as I hear my alarm clock buzzing away on my side table. Reaching over to it and pressing the snooze button, getting out and opening my wardrobe. Looking in the mirror as I change into my work uniform. I always liked seeing my name on my uniform like I was at least somewhat important.

Tucking my shirt into my pants and wrapping my belt around me. I sigh as I grab my bag and head out to work, walking downstairs and onto the streets sniffing the air. It was fresh for a change as most days all you could smell was smoke. Walking along the footpath watching cars and trucks go by doing there average runs of the day either heading to work or just driving around for the sake of it. Looking up ahead seeing a sign which was the place I worked at, taking a left I enter a small alleyway and into a red door. Turning on all the lights in the kitchen, prepare all the ovens, making sure all plates had been cleaned and everything was almost ready for the store to be opened.
Felix hears the back door open and chatter soon enters the kitchen.
