"So you're ex-SAS and you were transferred to the CIA, why do you think you can do this job?" The man behind the desk says. He was leaning casually in his chair, a contrast to the uptight, straight backed woman sitting opposite him. "I'm ex-SAS and I was a transfer to the CIA, that's why I can do the job." Her words were clipped and determined. "Then I don't see any problems with you becoming one of the team. It'll be great to have you as a liason officer." The woman stood up and shook his hand before taking the uniform on the desk and leaving. "She's an odd one," the man thought. "But she's got a good skill set."
He was right Ria was more than qualified for this job, thieves and fights were nothing compared to her history. She walked up to the tower and knocked on the door. A blonde man opened the door and looked her up and down. Her uniform was ill fitting to begin with, but she'd customised it to be her own style. Mainly black it hugged her curves whilst still being stretchy enough to give comfort and agility. "I'm the new liason officer, it's a pleasure to meet you." She said as she walked into the tower. "It a pleasure to meet you too, I'm Maxi, that's Harries, Kerrbox and Jesse." The man from the door said. "Right where do I sit?" She said as she walked into the main room, surrounded by windows and chairs the room served as a lookout point for the lifeguards. She sat down in an empty chair and grabbed a pair of binoculars and surveyed the beach. She could feel the others looking at her, but she wasn't bothered. "Umm, do you need anything?" A voice said from behind her. "No." She continued looking across the beach. Her job was to watch the sand rather than the water and to deal with any problems on land. "Excuse me you're in my seat." A man stood behind her with his arms crossed. "Oh and you are?" She said smiling at him. "Whippet." He said.
"Whippet, what kind of a name is that?" She said looking at the poor guy. "It's a nickname." He replied. "Yeah, well obviously." She rolled her eyes and turned back to the water. The other lifeguards smirked to themselves as Whippet walked off. "What's your name then?" Harries asks her. "I'm Ria and no it's not short for anything."
"Well I guess seeing as you have red hair and a bit of a fiery personality, you can be Red. Welcome to the team." Underneath the binoculars she blushed slightly, she's always hated her red hair, but the way he said it made her feel like it was a compliment.Later in the day the beach was quiet and Ria hadn't had a chance to do anything. She leant back in her chair and was about to go and get a drink when a knock at the tower door got her attention. She walked over and opened the door with a face that was not one to be messed with. "I've been stung by a bluebottle and it really hurts." The teenage girl limped into the tower. "Let me see." She took the girls ankle and examined it. The usual welts that come with a sting weren't visible and there wasn't even any red skin. "Right there's nothing there. Out you go." Her no nonsense tone didn't seem to effect the girl. "But it really hurts I'm sure it was a bluebottle. Is there nothing you can do?" She pleased with Ria. "There's nothing, if it hurts that bad to home and put some ice on it." With that she pushed the girl out of the door and slammed it shut, dusting her hands off as she went back to her seat. "That was a bit harsh don't you think?" Maxi turned round in his seat. "No, she was trying it on. I have no time for time wasters." She said before picking up her binoculars again. "You remind me so much of H." He said with a laugh. "Who's H?" She asked. "You'll meet him soon enough." She shrugged and continued looking out.
A few more people came to the tower with legitimate stings and Ria dealt with them as was stated in the lifeguard manual. By the end of the day she was fed up with knocks at the door. "Ugh do people ever stop being idiots?" She asked no one in particular. "Nope, that's the public for you."
This Maxi kid never seems to stop talking. Thought Ria. I guess I'm just going to have to get used to this.A/N: If you're enjoying this story I have another bondi rescue fanfic book that it would be great if you checked out!
