It had only been a few hours since they broke up and since then, time was confusing and deformed. Fiona sunk into her seat watching the rain drip from the window. Nothing came into mind, only empty wishes and regrets.
She could hear the teacher discuss their lesson, but she couldn't quite comprehend. All she could understand were blurry words that go through her head, one ear to the other.
Fiona just continued to watch the rain, leaning against the window hoping the day would end. Everything felt so surreal and abrupt, even her cognitive functions were a mess. She couldn't cry nor could she speak. All she could do was tightly squeeze her skin under her red flannel in order to stay awake.
A few raindrops later, she could hear murmurs behind her as she felt like she's being watched. She leaned into her chair further and looked back, trying her best not to divert the teacher's attention to her. However, she wasn't that stealthy when 2 or 3 of her classmates saw her looking back.
She smiled in panic, and immediately turned back around. "When will this day ever end?", thought the girl in red as she took a deep breath. She closes her eyes, furrowing her eyebrows trying to control her emotions. Was she mad? Sad? Regretful?
"Hey, are you okay?" Fiona felt a sudden pat on her shoulder and jolted up as soon as the hand added unnecessary weight on her heavy shoulders. She opened her eyes and looked to her left, only to see the concern on her seatmate's face.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine, Scott. Nothing to worry about." She scoffed as she quickly pushed Scott's hand away. "Just... focus on the lecture, okay? I don't want anyone shipping us again." Fiona could feel the cringe down her spine as she said... that.
"No. Come on, really. What happened?" Even if Fiona obviously turned him down, he still persisted anyway. She crosses her arms and proceeds to look out the window once again.
"Am I really 'fine'? Maybe I will never be fine. Hmm. Maybe I will be. Argh! I don't know anymore... It's only been a few hours and it's already killing me."

What's been killing me?

."You're still looking at me, aren't you?" she sighed.
"Well, you obviously aren't alright."
It took a few seconds before she turned around to face Scott. She breathed in deeply and whispered underneath her breath, "God, could this day get any worse?"
Scott flirted a lot. Everyone knew that, because he'd flirt with most of the girls in class. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration. Maybe 1/4 of the girls in class. Not including the other girls from other sections. He even flirts with Fiona.
But even so, this gesture of kindness seems out of the blue. Fiona isn't really used to it, however she knows deep down that Scott's nice and doesn't intend to hurt anyone. Well, of course unless you hurt him first.
Fiona turns around to face Scott who was still showing concern. At first, she thought this was one of his tricks to make girls like him, but he seems genuinely concerned.
She hears those murmurs once more, and she's beginning to wonder if she should talk to Scott or not. Especially during class.
She inhales deeply.
Heavy exhale.
"Okay, my girlfrie--- my ex... just broke up with me." Fiona painfully confessed.
"He's going to make some douchy comment about how I should've picked him, won't he?" Fiona exclaims inside her head, still wishing the day would end right about now.
