The snowflakes fell in my hair, the smell of the forest was strong, I couldn't get that unbearable memory out of my head.
When the police officers showed up at our front door and my mom was in the kitchen trying to find pictures of my little sister and I could barely keep it together when I made eye contact with the officer.
"Scarlet!" my mother screamed "are they here?" I could barely get the word out "yes." I walked into my little sister's room and it smelled like her cheap strawberry perfume, her notebook was on her bed and I opened it up and saw silly drawings of dragons and trees.
I made my way to her desk, her colorful pens all over her desk, next to her purple lava lamp, silly girl, we will find you. I thought to myself. I told myself just to breathe. As I walked out of her room, I looked at my reflection, my baggy eyes, my pale skin and my brown hair falling down on my shoulders. I don't know if I need coffee or vodka to get through this. I walked back into the living room, my mother had pictures of Isabella on top of the fireplace mantel. I don't know how I'm gonna get through this, I feel like a wild animal, stuck in a cage, this isn't fair I feel powerless, I know I'm gonna lose my mind. I feel like I've been thrown out of my own kingdom not knowing where she is. I come back to reality, it's hard to believe that terrible, terrible moment was over a month ago.
