Chapter 2, Daddy's home

"LO-LOOO, COME EATT," Lorenzo's mom shouted from the bottom of the stairs. He laid there still tired from but knew he was hungry. He laid there for a bit longer but hesitantly gets up heads down. He sees his brother and mom eating. They were eating from the local coney island which was strange. " Lo-Lo I got your favorite melt and even some chili cheese fries," As his dad approaches him from behind and Lorenzo turned around and hugged him. " I missed you pa," as he felt the warmth of his chest but the freezing cold of his hands gripping around him. The love surrounded the room and Lorenzo was glad the whole family was here. Lorenzo often wished it was like this more but knew his dad had important stuff to attend to. He knew his dad as the strongest man in his life. Forever teaching Lorenzo about the risk of street stuff and what to watch out for in anything. His mom disapproved but knew he was only steering him away from all the drama.

"So how's school been Mijo," his dad asked, stuffing some more fries into his mouth. " It could be better," " Lo-Lo is lil nerd pa"

"And you're a party nerd Ru-Ru." Pa and Ruben Bickering back and forth with no bad intentions. Lorenzo feeling the love and just feeling happier than ever his whole family is back. The moment is abruptly interrupted by his dad's phone ringing. Their dad quickly checks his phone and answers
"Hello ? Yeah it's me, wassup. I'm busy right now... it can wait for some time..." no one can understand the phone as it is only murmurs and mumbling but they all look at his dad as he looks concerned.  " Wait nah I'll be there in a minute. Those had to be real. Alright bro whatever I'm coming right now" his dad hangs up and announces that he has to leave. Everyone irritated by it but none the less understand. " I love you pa " Ruben and Lorenzo say right before his dad gets up to hug them. " Joseph you better stay safe, you know the boys miss you."
"Ofcourse babe, I'll be fine," He exclaims as he gets up and grabs his shoes and bag.

"Pa can I have some money for my computer parts ? I wanna build a new one for gaming and stuff." Everyone was shocked and looked at Lorenzo. He never asked for stuff. " Sure Mijo" as he opens his bag and brings out stacks of $100 dollar bills and gives him 2 big stacks. " that's about $3000 so I hope that covers it Mijo. " he hands Ruben and their mom 2 big stacks apiece and tell them he's gonna go. " I'll call you guys when I can. Stay safe and don't spend that all in one place" they all laugh and he leaves.  "Ruben you going anywhere?"
" I think we all are Mijo," Mom exclaims. " Get dressed we are gonna go shopping ok ?"
" I need some new shoes so this is perfect" Ruben says.

Lorenzo storms up the stairs happily and heads into his room and closes the door. He pulls from underneath his bed a box he has hidden and open it. An old shoe box which has around maybe $200 bucks worth of $20 bills and he grabs it. He hears people coming up and quickly hides it. " IM SHOWERING FIRSTTT!" Ruben yells while walking up the stairs and Lorenzo could care less. He had already showered the night before and felt clean. He opened his closet and got his best clothes out. He felt like the man today. He was already planning out what he wanted to spend the money on. He put his clothes on and went downstairs to the second bathroom to brush his teeth and use the bathroom. He noticed a note on the bathroom floor. Folded into small pieces so he picked it up and pocketed it. He finished up and went back upstairs to count the money. Taking off the rubber bands and spreading it out on his bed. $5000 total, making him even happier knowing a good computer was only around $2000 so he could redo his room. Only having a desk, bed, tv stand, and closet. He was going to buy more stuff to build his dream room. He was happy. " LO-LO , RU-RU, HURRY UP LETS GO!" His mom yelled from downstairs and he hears the shower water turn off. Ruben immediately opens the door to go to his room, running across the hallway and slipping. Lorenzo bust out laughing and Ruben, embarrassingly mutters our " shut the fuck up" as his voice cracks.

Lorenzo pockets the money and remembers the note from the feeling of it. He puts the note under his blanket and gets ready to leave. He heads downstairs and sees his mom already outside with the car started. He grabs a water and gets ready to head out " DUMBASS LOCK THE DOOR WHEN YOU COME DOWN" he yells to Ruben as he heats Ruben's door open and Ruben yells " ALRIGHT FUCK YOU ASS " still embarrassed. Lorenzo walks out towards the car and gets in the front. " We are gonna go to Southland and Walmart ok ?" His mom tells him as he settles in. " alright that's fine. I'm gonna go to BestBuy and maybe Zumiez"
"Ok". They both notice Ruben coming out with his phone in his hand typing. He gets in the back and immediately critiques Lorenzo for taking the front seat " you ass, you know I'm older,"
"So? I got here first ?"
"And I was born first loser"
Their mom laughs and backs out the driveway. Setting her GPS to southland and Lorenzo hands the AUX to Ruben and he plays music. They drive off, destined for the mall.
