I watch as a crowd of kids took over the monkey bars on the playgrounds while I'm sitting on the swing. It's a cloudless windy day and my mom kept nagging at me on going out of the house. She said I'm useless at doing housecleaning and she's going to get a splitting headache watching me lounging around while she turns the whole house upside down. I can't do anything whenever she puts her foot down.

"What's up?"

I look up smiling and found someone looking down on me.

I flinched and started to stand from the swing from being taken aback.

"Gabrielle right?" That's two questions in a row now.

Isn't this Gabriel Stills from my class? What is Mr. Popular doing here when he's supposed to be having fun with his social clique?

"What're... you doing here?" I may have gave off a weird look because he laughed out loud after looking at me.

Was that wrong? I mean before school break, I personally heard from some girls that there's supposed to be a grand party happening at Antoinette's house today. And of course only those who's in the 'In Club' were invited.

He stopped laughing but I can still see the ghost of smile from his lips.

"What's that supposed to mean? Can't I go wherever I want to go?"  he asked with a smile on his face.

His small smile felt like an insult to me. It stings and I felt like I need to inflict the same sting to him.

I rolled my eyes at him. This time I decided to stand up from the swing.

"Shouldn't you be with your 'In Club' now? I heard there's a party happening at Antoinette's." I said exaggeratedly making quote marks in the air with my hands.

He sighed and sat down on the next swing on my left side.

"Let's just say I'm not invited. I'm out of the circle now." He said this so dramatically that I almost thought that we're shooting with cameras around.

'You gotta be kidding me with that.' I said to myself. I shrug, stood up, and brush the bottom of my pants with my hands. I looked up again at the cloudless sky and back at the lonely Mr. Popular on the swing.

"Good day then." I said then walked away.

But I can't forget his face when he thought I wasn't looking at him anymore. He looks lonely. For real.
