Chapter 3

The three of us stand in the storeroom in silence, before Taylor speaks.

"You can't be serious!" She says in disgust as she walk off into the hallways. I chase after her, pushing through the crowds.

"Taylor!" I yell.

"Taylor talk to me!"

"What's there to talk about Katie?!" She surprises me by responding.

"I don't know, maybe this mess of a friendship!" I reply sarcastically.

"Well your the one who started the mess aren't you?"

"Me? You started the mess by making such a big deal out my relationship!"

"That's because it is a big deal Katie. I know you just think I'm jealous and cruel to tell you to not to be together, but I'm doing it for you. If anyone finds out about the two of you, Mr Graff could get expelled and you could get into trouble as well. None of that's worth it." She explains, toning down her voice.

"It is worth it though because I care about him, in fact I'm falling in love with him."

"No your not Katie, it's all just in your head."

"I know you don't get it but your just going to have to accept it. I can't help my feelings for him."

"Katie, you need to forget about him, trust me. Tell him now that things are over and I'll forget that we ever fought, everything will be back to normal."

"It's not going to happen Taylor, I-I'm sorry." I watch her face as it fills with sadness. I know Taylor, and I know that right now she is trying to stay as strong and possible even though I just killed her inside. I ended our friendship, I actually just ended it.

Mr Graff taps on my shoulder and I flinch. I turn around to see his worried face and I just want to leap into his arms.

"Katie, I heard everything." I look around and notice everyone staring at me. I didn't even realise that Taylor and I were making a scene. This is too embarrassing. I look up at Mr Graff and run off into the toilets.

I spend the whole 5th and 6th period in toilet cubicle, sobbing and thinking about all of the mistakes I've made. When the home bell rings I walk out with red eyes, grab my bag and go home, avoiding anyone and everyone.
