Friends don't lie

MAX'S POV

I feel... Strange. About all of things Lucas told me, it just didn't seem realistic.

I laughed it off.

Lucas was hesitant, "Are you listening? This information can get us killed!"

I looked at him.

Lucas eyes widened, "You don't believe me, do you?"

I then grabbed my skate board, "Do you think I'm stupid or something? Of course I don't, so stop lying to me."

I stormed out, frustrated, and feeling defeated.

He began to chase me out, worriedly he tells, "Max wait!"

I stopped to begin playing my game.

"I promise I'm not lying! Friends don't lie." He cried.

"Really?"

I then took the (out of order) sign off the game, and gave him a nasty look.

"Then what's this??"

He was nervous once again, "I had to! You wouldn't have listened if I didn't!"

I shook my head, and began to play.

"Seriously! If you tell anyone, you can be killed!"

I turned to look at him.

"Are you serious?"

He nodded.

I sat there, frozen. Should I believe him? I mean, it just wasn't realistic, was it? Seriously, fighting monsters, and a girl who can control things with her mind that for some reason is gone? The timing just seems too perfect.

"Prove it then."

I grinned, if the girl wasn't here then that must have meant he was faking it, right? I mean, if it's a lie there's no way he can prove it.

"I-I can't..."

I knew it.

I then saw Billy's car pull up.

"I've got to go, DONT FOLLOW ME OUT!"

I ran.

"You believe me right?!"

I heard him scream in the background, but I just ignored it planning my excuse to Billy.

As I walked into the car, I tried not to make eye contact.

"What did I tell you?"

I didn't answer.

"Why were you hanging out with that kid?!!" He yelled angry.

"I wasn't! He's just a guy from my class, and we ran into each other. I wasn't even talking to him."

I tried to cover my face, fear making me shake.

He just continued to drive, and ignored the statement.

I sat down on my bed trying to fix my skate board, and still trying to control my thoughts. I mean, it just seems too crazy to be true?

I heard Billy yell from down stairs, "Max!!! Are you gonna get that?!"

I yelled back, "Sure! Whatever..."

I ran downstairs to the door, and in my surprise, it was Lucas.

I freaked, and closed the door behind me.

"What are you doing here?!"

"I think I know how I can prove it to you."

"Okay, well not right now, or right here!" I yelled.

"Okay, well sneak out of your bedroom window then!"

"What?! Are you insane!"

I then realized Billy was coming towards the door.

"Quickly hide!"

Billy then opened the door, to reveal me, as Lucas was hiding in the backyard.

I came up with an excuse, as I quickly ran to my bedroom.

I then closed my bedroom door behind me, and walked towards the window.

I saw Lucas on his bike, waiting for me.

What was I doing?! I'm so stupid! I thought to myself, but I couldn't trick myself to not go with him, so I opened the window, and slipped out.

I was just too curious.

(Sorry this isn't related to Elmax! I'm just getting the book started.)
