Rain pelted the concrete of the ally way on a chilly night. Not a soul was spotted wandering the haunted streets of New York. A young child, merely around six, shifted around to find a new position for her numb leg. She wiped her eyes with the back of her green hand and whined as a rat scurried across her feet. "Mommy," she whimpered.
Clash
Clang
The little girl flinched at the sounds that brought her painful memories of her beginning.
An alert voice echoed through the dark sky of New York.
"Mikey!"
A shadowy figure whizzed past her head and into the wall, missing her by a foot. She jumped back a few feet in fear and trembled. The figure, hidden in the shadows, stood up and groaned. It's piercing white eyes turned to the child's direction.
"Aw," the creature cried, "you're so cute!"
The pair of eyes moved out of the shadows to show a shell and plastron. It had green skin like her and kind baby blue eyes. The young stranger wore an orange mask tied around his face although the thin band of orange did not conceal much at all. The turtle had wrappings around its feet, elbows, and knees. The small girl didn't know what they were supposed to be used for but she didn't bother to find out. All she wanted was her mom.
He picked her up and examined her closely. "You're coming with me!"
He positioned her until she was comfortable on his hip and walked out of the tight space between the buildings. She flinched and hid her face in his neck in terror of the sight she saw. He held her up in front of him and smiled rather gleefully to the small band of brothers standing before him. "Can we keep her?"
Three older turtles turned around stunned. One of the turtles pulled a robot head off of the large weapon he held and tossed it aside casually. He had a blue bandanna that complimented his royal blue eyes. He was taller than the rest, except he was shorter than one of them. He gave off a dictatorial vibe the others seemed to lack.
"Mikey," the turtle spoke with a shocked voice," where did you find her?"
"I found her in the ally way when Dogpound threw me against the wall," he exclaimed.
The tallest of the four crouched near her height and studied her closely. She whimpered, tucking her face away from sight.
An annoyed looking turtle grunted with his arms crossed. His red mask made his striking green eyes pop. It had tears and ruined ends on the tails of the mask as if something had been chewing on it. He had a crack in his plastron in the shape of a lightning bolt, also. He was shorter than most of the turtles, but taller than the one with the orange mask. He stood proudly as if he was ready for a fight, or at least another one. "Looks like the Kraang are trying to mutate stuff again." His voice was low yet full of annoyance.
Mikey grinned even wider, his eyes filled with hope. "Well, can we?"
The turtle that was crouched smirked, "I think it would be a good idea. She looks about five or six. That's way too young to fend for herself and she's a mutant. If she stays out here on her own with the Foot or the Kraang lurking around, there's no telling what will happen to her." The slender turtle tickled the bottom of the little one's feet, making her giggle softly and kick her legs. He looked back at the leader of the group who returned a frown.
"I don't know, Donnie," the one with the blue mask looked unsure," what would we tell Master Splinter?"
Donnie turned to look at him with a face of disbelief as he stood up to his towering height. "Leo, she's a child," he argued, "he couldn't say no."
