"...HE'S SO WELL PUT TOGETHER AND I'M... WELL, I'M NOT."

~☾☘︎︎☽~

"And tonight's guest is the Japan's own legendary race car driver. The fast, the beautiful, the unbeatable; (L/N) (Y/N)!"

I took my cue, walking onto the stage and waving.

"What's rocking?!" I shouted my signature line, making the crowd go wild. I shook hands with the interviewer, a slender yet pretty woman with straight teeth and long legs. We both sat down, smiling.

"Let me just say, (L/N), you are an inspiration to people everywhere! It's an honor to have you on tonight's show."

"Thank you, thank you, it's really an honor to be here."

"Let's get started, shall we?" I nod politely for her to continue. "Our first question for you is one we all want to know. What's the hardest part about racing?" She asked.

"Oh geez, well," I laughed, "it has to be the crashes. You almost always walk away with an injury." I said.

"What are some injuries that you've gotten and how do they affect you?" She asked, leaning back and staring at me in thought.

"Um, let's see, well I wear a shoulder brace on my right arm," I said, tapping the shoulder with my left hand, "because I've dislocated it," I paused, spreading out my hand and waving it back and forth like a seesaw in thought, "about three times now. The brace gets really uncomfortable, but until I can get proper treatment, I have to wear it. But by far the injury that affected me the most was my face scar.

"You can't see it right now because I have stage makeup on, but from here," I put my finger a bit past my hairline on the right side of my face, dragging it down to my chin, "to here, I have a huge scar from where a piece of metal from a crash raked across my face. It just made me really insecure, and I couldn't open my mouth for a while afterward because the cut was so deep it almost went all the way through my cheek. If I opened my mouth too much, it could have ripped my cheek open." She gave me a sympathetic look.

"I'm so sorry."

"Oh don't be, I wear both my brace and scar with pride now." We laughed together, and the crowd started clapping.

"This is another common question about you." I nodded, urging her to continue.

"What got you into racing?" She asked, leaning towards me. I felt the crowds eyes on me, ready to know my answer, to take it and hide it away like something precious.

"Well, all I ever wanted was to go fast."

She laughed. "Really?"

"Ever since I was a kid, I just wanted to go fast. Whenever I was in the car with my parents, I would tell them to go faster, and I think that made them concerned for my mental health." The crowd laughed.

"I've just always wanted to go fast. No matter what."

"This is a question I know everyone has been dying to ask you. Is Ingenium your favorite pro hero?" She asked, leaning forward, chin resting on her hand and smirking.

I laughed loudly. "He is actually! I've always admired him. As I said, all I've ever wanted was to go fast, but I can only run so fast. So I turn to machines to help me go quicker, I'm actually getting my flying license soon so I can go fast in the sky." I said jokingly, and the crowd went wild with laughter.

"It's amazing to me how he can just run that fast, quirk or not. He's really an inspiration to me." I said smiling.

"You are aware that people online say you two should date, yes?" She asked innocently.

"Yes I am aware."

"Do you think you could ever date Ingenium?" She asked. I knew she was up to something. I laughed, turning away and covering my face.

The crowd went wild, yelling "Aw!" and "She's flustered!" I laughed nervously.

"You'll have to excuse me," I said, turning back. "I'm flustered very easily, it's not hard to get me worked up and looking away." I said, and the crowd ate it up.

"To be honest, no. I can't see Ingenium and I dating, mainly because he's so proper. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's part of why I admire him, it's just that he's so well put together and I'm... well, I'm not." I laughed, the crowd laughed, the interviewer laughed.

"I mean, I have my racer's number printed on the back of all my blazers and suit jackets, that's not really something people do. And I know that somewhere, he's out there watching this, or he'll see it tomorrow on the news or a magazine. To that I say, hello." I waved at the camera, smiling softly, and the crowd thought it was great. "I hope I don't embarrass you by saying this, but I'd be lying if I didn't find Ingenium attractive." I said, making the crowd oh and ah.

The interviewer smirked.

"I thought you'd say that," she said winking, "because we have a special guest for you today as well! Turn around!"

I turned, very confused, behind me.

And Ingenium stares back at me.

Surprise.
