"NO!" Ed Screamed as he woke up in a cold sweat once again, happens every night since the incident. "Why....why did we have to try...we couldn't just let it go..." He said to himself for the hundredth time. "DAMMIT!" He shouted and slammed his automail arm into the wall by his bed. "WHY WASN'T IT ME! WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE HIM!" "He punch the wall again this time tearing a hole in it. He slumped over examining his automail for damage as tears welled up in his eyes. "That Damn Transmutation...." He got out of bed and wiped his eyes. He walked around his empty room pacing trying to get his thoughts on anything else, it was hard when he had the permanent reminders of his metal arm and leg, constantly there so he know's how he failed. The pain never went away, the nerve attachments still constantly hurt as if his very soul is rejecting these replacements. Understandably though, as he hates what made them necessary. He walked around until he decided to face the mirror in the corner.
He hated his own reflection so he left his only mirror tucked away, looking at himself he saw someone scared and alone, dark circles around their eyes, hair dark and in shambles and clothes tattered and unkempt. He knew the face he saw but he chose not to see himself, instead he saw someone he once respected and looked up too but not since he quit alchemy. It was always his dream to pursue alchemy and become respected, but ever since he made the horrible mistake of attempting to resurrect his mother he stopped trying.
He always had an affinity for alchemy, presumably due to his father, Hohenheim's innate alchemic abilities. Ed and his brother had spent their time training with Izumi Curtis to hone their alchemy but they were horrible fools. They believed they could return their mother to life, that was the last time either boy used alchemy. "Why did you survive....why didn't you die too, you're not an alchemist, you're a murderer." Ed spoke to himself remembering the incident once more. The Transmutation failed and his brother Al was completely obliterated and he lost his left leg, in hopes to save him Ed sacrificed his arm to save Al's soul, but that failed too.
Edward found himself most days, never really there, always just working around his childhood home to keep his mind off his mistakes. He used his automail primarily to work more effectively. Winry, the one who built his automail and his only friend, came by often to make sure he was okay and to give him company and to often repair the automail. Ed had rebuilt the entire house almost, although the basement was sealed off and he refuses to accept it's existence. The basement was where the incident occurred and ed never went back there, simply boarded up the door and left it. Every night he worked until he passed out, often needing to be carried to his room by winry though he gets nightmares every night, relieving his mistake every night, waking up screaming and several time forcefully removing his automail needing it re-attached the next day.Constantly in some form of pain, physical or emotional.

*knock* *knock* *knock* "Ed, are you there?" Winry yelled. It had been a few days since her last visit, she knew it was stupid but she has had lots of work to do and she ended up not coming here for almost a week now. She hoped Ed was alright.
*knock* *knock* *knock* "EDWARD!" She shouted at the door and waited and listened. Not hearing anything for a few seconds she decided to kick the door down. "Hee-YA" The door broke off it's hinges and winry looked inside and saw darkness. This was actually a rather common way for winry to enter, ed didn't mind because he enjoyed the extra work to keep his mind of things. This time was different, because the house was dark, all the windows were boarded up and all the furniture smashed. She walked slowly into the dark room, "E...Ed? Are you here?" Winry said, walking further into the house. She turned the corner into the hallway and stopped stone cold. The basement Door was Open.
