Ding! Ding! Ding!

I swat my hands towards the sound in order to stop the dreadful noise until my brain becomes aware that I'm not on the soft material of my pillow but the hard wooden surface of my desk. Quickly, my eyes flutter open, blinking a few times.

Then, I see the tip of a pen near my eyes and I jolt back quickly. "The hell?"

Sehun gives me a frown. "Damnit you woke up." He caps the sharpie quickly and leans back against his desk.

"You were just gonna draw on my face!?" I ask. Friends do you dirty when you least expect it. -_- I get up and pick my backpack off the floor, noticing the rest of the class was already out the door and new students were slowly entering.

"That was payback for last week."

"What happened last week?" I scan my brain for any faults I've done to my dear old friend.

"The sleepover, you put my hand in a bucket of warm water."

I start to laugh. "Right, and you ended up pissing yourself in your sleep."

Sehun widens his eyes and clamps his hand over my mouth. "Say it any louder you childish mongrel China didn't hear you."

"Who uses the word mongrel?" I mutter before licking his hand to get it away from me. The trick works because soon Sehun is wiping his hand on his pants sleeve in disgust and punches my shoulder playfully.

"We're gonna be late," I mention looking at the Rolex my mother gave me for my birthday.

As Sehun and I walk out of the classroom, I notice from the corner of my eye, Mr. Byun. He's staring at us, not in a creepy stalker kind of way, but in a reminiscing way. Though he's looking at us, it seems as if his mind isn't here. A small smile is painted on his youthful face until he turns around and greets the new line of students coming in.

I don't think anything of it, but I wonder if he heard our conversation.

+x+

"I wonder why Mrs. Choi never said she was retiring." I mention to Sehun during lunch.

"She did, you were skipping that day."

"I was?" I look at my half-eaten cheeseburger. "Oops." Then I suddenly feel the urge to ask about Mr. Byun but I don't know what I'm so curious about. I'm not sure what I want to ask, so I just finish my fries and milkshake and forget about him for the rest of the day.

That is until detention.

When the final bell rings, I bolt from my seat ready to go home. I only need me, my bed, and perhaps a little until dawn replay and... Mr. Wang? My thoughts are abruptly ruined when my least favorite principal stops right in my path.

"And where are you going Mr. Park, Detention is that way." He points a strict finger in the opposite direction.

"What's this one for again?" I look down.

"You started a food fight in the cafeteria."

"It wasn't me." I try to lie.

"It's all on camera, now go. You have a whole week. You're lucky I don't tack another one on for that skipping stunt you tried to pull." He sighed. "I just want you to go to college, and get a good education Chanyeol. Stop this childish nonsense please, you're eighteen already. An adult."

I go to retort with sarcasm but his words genuinely hit me. I'm not acting childish? Am I? I'm just having fun, that's what high school is about because I know once I hit college, I won't have any time for that.

Before I know it, I'm standing at the front of the room labeled DETENTION in gold calligraphy. How fancy, I think, as if I haven't seen it hundreds of times before.  The room smells of lavender before I even open the door, supposedly this aroma can 'calm our delinquincy.' I walk through the door, head still down to see a familiar set of brown suede shoes.

"You again." Mr. Byun speaks to me with a grin, there's some humor in his eyes though I don't understand the joke. I wonder what it would take to get that stupid smile off of his damn face. Who is this guy anyway?

The detention room is just like any classroom, except that there are couches towards the back of the room, and like four desks upfront. It's a highly comfortable room for people who are supposed to be punished but hey, I don't complain.

"You're stuck on detention duty?" I smirk feeling sorry that he has to waste his time here.

"Yep. For the whole week, it looks like." Mr. Byun leans against the desk and folds his arms across his chest. Kind of like the way Principal Wang does occasionally. After a few seconds, he seems uncomfortable and ends up hopping on the desk, his feet dangling above the ground.

I have to hide a smile. Why did that seem almost... cute?

He checks his watch. "It's been ten minutes is everyone here?"

I look behind me and see about six or seven people. I don't know anyone besides Kyungsoo, in the back on one of the beanbag chairs. We weren't friends or acquaintances for that matter, I just know that he's always here with me, but he doesn't even speak so I don't know why he'd get detention.

He always is scowling at people too, he looks annoyed constantly so I don't try to talk to him, maybe I should though.

"Some people are probably skipping," I whisper to Mr. Byun as he tries to take attendance.

"I figured." He whispers back.

I take this time to catch glimpses of his features. I don't know why I'm doing it, but I am.

Besides a straight nose that curves slightly at the bottom, and plump lips that were unnaturally pink and pouty, Mr. Byun has light brown hair that's so light it's almost auburn. Yet it contrasts from his eyebrows that were essentially darker and what looks like really smooth, pale skin. And his eyes... I cock my head to the side as I figure out how to describe his eyes-

"Why are you staring at me?"

"Huh?" I blink.

Mr. Byun looks down, and it seems as if his vampire pale skin is starting to color pink. "You're staring at me." He coughs and pushes aside the attendance paper.

"Oh I'm sorry, I was just staring into space." His shy reaction affects me more than it should've and now I'm the one looking down turning red from embarrassment. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." I apologize again.

Since when do I apologize to teachers?

"I should probably get used to it. You're my 'bad seed'." He air quotes Mr. Wang from this morning.

I look at him before involuntarily breaking into a smile and Mr. Byun grins himself, then proceeds to laugh an infectious beautiful laugh.

I got it. For those who have seen or read Beloved Enemy, I'm using Gu Qing Pei as an example for Beakhyun's character :> hehe I love him so much
