1939

Young Doris sat at the kitchen table waiting for time to pass. A knock at the front door snapped her out of her daze. A telegram. No! The man at the door spoke.

"I'm sorry for your loss" But his words blurred into one, Doris collapsed into a chair and put her hand up to her mouth. Tears rolled down her face. From that day on, time slowed down and she didn't see the point in waiting around. No one would be coming home anyway. So she made up her mind, she stopped waiting...

She knew the oak tree out the back was strong. Strong enough suspend dead weight.

Brian stepped out of the car and grabbed a tarp from someone's front lawn, he threw it over the little blue car.

"I'm so sorry..." he whispered. He continued walking down the street, different buildings, different faces and bad air. Franklin town was scattered in rubbish and cold looks.

But the thing that stood out to him the most, was the almost black sky and blood-red clouds.

One thing he learnt that day; to steal a car is to steal a future.
