:P

ok so now I'm going to be spelling stuff normally so that you can read it... better

this will kinda be a step by step on how I go about drawing, sketching, outlining, etc.

I hope this helps for anyone struggling with digital art <3

--------------------

Usually I start with a sketch on paper or in the app. When I started I never really sketched much and just jumped straight into it, which really wasn't the best of ideas- but hey, you got to start somewhere right?

In this example, I start off on paper before taking a picture and pasting it into the app. However, with the app that I'm using, you can also scan your sketches and the app will immediately turn it into black and white.

(inspiration for the drawing --> Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato)

(I used pen for the sketch.... don't start off with pen unless you want a lot of crumple up failed drawings in your trash. Its a bad habit. Start off with pencil and if you want to be fancy, got over with pen or marker after. Please. Think about the trees.)

I then adjust it to where I want the main point (Error) to be, and I based this on the size of... the picture? lets just call it big white block of creativity, You can also adjust the size of the big white block of creativity if you really want to, I just went with the size of my phone/screen.

I then decided that I don't want to do line art, so I did something I call non-line art, which is basically a heck ton of a lot of shapes shoved together to make a picture. Of course I made most of the shapes on my own.

(The brush I use from now on is the Inking pen in the Legacy set.)

Now add more shapes

-ps: if you're good at color theory and that stuff, use that ability to your advantage.

if not, here is your homework:

This is how you find colors that look awesome together and complement your drawing :D

When shading, I recommend using a cooler shades of the original color (cooler = purple, blue, or green.) or warmer shades if your feeling adventurous, (warmer = red, orange, yellow.) instead of just layering up with black or making the shaded parts darker by adding black. this is the same for lighting but avoid layering up with white and use warmer or cooler colors instead.

Examples:

The darker shade of yellow would be orange.

The darker shade of red would be a red-purple.

A darker shade of green would be blue or red-green.

(but also do whatever you want, you don't have to follow these examples if you really don't want to, this is just meant to help ^^)

Extra advise: The things that are closer should be bigger and the things that are farther should be smaller.

lastly and most importantly, put in a watermark if you're doing digital. if you're doing this all on paper and only paper, sign it; its fancy and you don't have to have a signature to sign your drawings. initials are cool too.

My deviant Art account is English-iz-Funky, which is why the watermark is like that

Proportion (?):

there are many different kinds of proportion, at least in the way I see it. one kind of proportion is the distance between objects and how to show how far away they would be from each other. when drawing/sketching I like to picture the objects in my mind before putting them onto paper, along with if the camera/window is facing up or down. things that are farther away will be small and more distant, and things that are closer will be bigger and more bold. in the picture of Error, his hand with the microphone has more bold colors, showing that his hand is closer to the camera and in front of him, while his other hand is darker, and going behind him.

the other kind of proportion that I can think of is controlling how and where you would want a viewers eye to see something in the picture, Ex: if I had a sunset, I'd have it in the middle so that its the first thing a viewer would see. but paintings of sunsets are also very common, so a viewer would automatically be drawn towards it anyway. there is also the rule of thirds, its a photography but its also very helpful in just making the picture more pleasant to look at.

I hope this helped anyone who is struggling!

Here a some art quotes because they are awesome:
