Pushing out 8 pound babies, working 4am till 5 or 7pm (Sorry that's my mom work schedule) and dealing with bills after bills and baby daddies and other shit. African American women have it rougher hands down.
What is the history behind Mother's Day?
The modern Mother's Day began in the United States, at the initiative of Anna Jarvis in the early 20th century. This is not (directly) related to the many traditional celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have existed throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, Rhea the Great Mother of the Gods, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration (originally a commemoration of Mother Church, not motherhood).However, in some countries, Mother's Day is still synonymous with these older traditions.
The U.S.-derived modern version of Mother's Day has been criticized for having become too commercialized. Founder Jarvis herself regretted this commercialism and expressed views on how that was never her intention.
Yalllll, we have to thank the lady herself Anna Maria Jarvis. She was the founder of Mother's Day.
Today Mother's Day was very meaningful. Me and my family had a wow 😳 day.
Soooo it started off as a good ass morning, you know. I woke up, did my hygienes, got dress, and went to pick up my cousin so she can help my mom out with the brunch. Sooooo we get to my mom's boyfriend house (small ass house but the inside is very nice) we helped my mom out with the breakfast and then it was time for the party to start. Me, I had to go pick up my little brother and big brother from my grandma house (which wasn't that far) once I got there, I waited for them but only my little brother said he was coming. My older brother said he was gone meet us there cause he was taking out his ugly ass 1992 or 93 mustang gt out for "a little stroll" 🙄. Like nigga really.
So everyone was at the house, dancing, and clowning around. And then my brother gets there. He didn't know where to park. And then his dumb ass car cut off. They said something was wrong with his starter, i don't know. But we gone skip his little heart attack about the car cause the shit was funny asf 😭😭.
Anyways....... we went and got some snowballs. We went to Walgreens to get I don't know what. But other then that, I had fun today with my family. We one big crazy ass family.
