Chapter 1
"I think we need to tap our scholars. As early as now, we can train them to adapt fast on how we work. Actually, there's this one scholar of ours who contributed a lot to the company. The sales went as high as 65% of our last sale! That's more than half of it! We need to trust our scholars more. They are the best of the best students and in fact, they wouldn't be our scholars if they weren't handpicked carefully right?"
I nod and contemplated on the idea. True to his word, we need more people who knows this generation more, and that would be our scholars in some universities around the world.
"Okay. You can start training our scholars but make sure that you have the last word. After a month you need to bring your reports whether the sales went higher or lower than the last. Am I clear?" I replied and all of them said 'crystal'. "Okay, meeting adjourned."
Everyone cheered, clapped, whistled, shouted even. Who wouldn't? We've been clearing our problems and planning a lot for the past 4 hours. I know everyone has a numb butt right now and is very eager to leave. However, we still need to talk about the grand ball happening tonight.
The meeting that we have held this day focuses primarily on the decisions that every company would make in order for them to boost their sales. Unknown to the business world, these CEOs of different companies still have to ask for my go signal regarding their decisions. They thought that these companies are not related to each other. But no, I gave birth to these companies. I know I couldn't handle it all because I have the main company to work for, thus the reason why I placed deserving acting CEO of these companies. Big issues that needed to be handled will go to me, while the small ones are the ones they would handle.
"So boss, I think you're getting laid tonight," my friend, Wyatt, said to me. Wyatt had been my friend since college. He's exceptionally bright, the reason he became the top of his class. Maybe the reason, too, why he graduated with two programs. His first program, he majored in modelling. Seems weird but there's this college school that really offered that program. While his second program, is Business Management. Because of it, I was convinced that he could manage the modeling agency that we have.
"Nah. I'm just going to meet my soon-to-be fiancé." I replied to which they all were taken a back. Who wouldn't right? It seems ridiculous that arranged marriages are a thing in 21st Century.
"I thought this set-up is off?" Chyanne, the one who is focused on fashion and on beauty trends, asked.
"Yeah but something happened. I don't know. I think something about the man needs an heir. A legitimate heir. He wants someone to carry his blood."
"Why didn't he just have a surrogate mother?" I turned to our most quiet one. He's very observant in his surroundings. Kyle, who handles tradings in oil and mining.
"Again. I don't know. I don't even know him. All I remember is that, he needs a legitimate heir and someone who could help him make his business stronger. His business is failing at some point. Though the last part is just some grapevine news. I still need to confirm it after some days. In fact, my parents and grandparents may try matching me with some man but I still got the last say whether I want to be engaged to him or not."
I'm just glad that my family doesn't pressure me much about getting laid or getting married. They knew this is a crucial subject for me and they respected my wishes regarding my lovelife after everything that happened. Now, who wouldn't love them?
I stood up from my seat after receiving lots of negative feedbacks. I know they're just being over protective to me but they should know that I'm a big girl now. I smiled warmly at them and told them that I will just meet them at the party.
Walking out of the building with dread filled my heart. I don't know what would happen to this day. Maybe this would be wonderful. Maybe not. Full of maybes are in my head when I got home. I definitely need to have a relaxing bath and prepare for tonight. Luckily, when I got home I still have 5 hours to prepare and the team is already in my room. Surprisingly, everything is ready and I am just the one that they are waiting for.
>^~^<
I feel like I just have a major glow up. These past few weeks are really crucial and busy week for me that I didn't even had time to make myself look and feel good. After having a relaxing bath with lots of scrubbing and waxing, I had finally feel light. So light like you could feel the dirt, teeny tiny dirts, had been finally out of your body.
The team that is in my room started doing their jobs. From my hair to my nails. They, too, wanted me to look perfect this day. The agonizing 5 hours is finally done and I don't have anything to say for my team aside from a simple thank you.
"Oh hush now. You know, you are our favorite person to doll up. You are already beautiful thus it is easy for us to get you ready. Unlike, some clients that we've handled. Gosh, their physical appearance is quite ugh! Don't even get me started about their attitude!" The head stylist commented. I just laughed at her and told her to chill out. This day would be one of their rest days, I want them to enjoy this party too!
They quickly arranged their things and went out of my room. Now that I am left alone, I got the chance to observe myself more. This plunging neckline on a form-fitting bodice that is embellished with sequins is one of the soon-to-be-released design in one of the fashion shows that our company had been conducting ever since. This also showcased my bare back and my whole left leg with its high slit on the left side.
Since I am wearing a silver colored dress, I partnered it up with my nude open toe line-style stiletto with high platform in front. My hair had been put in a classic messy bun with a few strands on either side of my face. It is also decorated with some flower and butterfly designed pins that helps hold my hair. To finish it all off, I used the pair of dangling earrings with a rose gold layered choker necklace with a bar pendants on the second and third layer.
They also made my nails look long and covered it with nude color. With the elegancy of my outfit, my makeup balances it. They just made my makeup light with just some simple almost nude-orange eyeshadow and a red lipstick. My signature, of course!
Breathing a deep needed air, I knocked my door to let the guards know that I am now ready to meet the guest. I always want a special or dramatic entrance in every party that I'm attending. Grabbing my clutch, the doors finally opened with my parents outside the door.
"You look wonderful, hun." My mother whispered to me as she hugged me tightly.
"Thank you, mother. You look wonderful, too. Now I know where I got my self being wonderful." We laughed at what I said, "you look handsome, dad" is what I said when I looked at my father. Both of them are wearing matching colors, that is royal blue.
"Well, my baby is not a baby anymore. However, it's okay. You are still my baby. Remember that."
I just chuckled at what my dad had said. All three of us walked slowly to the ball room where the party is being held at. Along the way, we reminisce our moments when I was young. Both the epic and wonderful ones. Just thinking about it made us laugh hard as we make our way to the two set of huge double doors.
"And now, this is what we've been waiting for, our birthday celebrant! Our bachelorette who surpassed a lot of challenges in life! Together with her parents, let us all welcome Imara Adelaide Hume!"
###
I think this is quite long so, I decided to cut it short. The actual party and the meeting and some interesting stuff would be out by next chapter! See you there!
