Why does he always do that to me... I thought to myself. My eyes teared up. Suddenly I started to feel the cold in this room. Eventhough every inch of my body was showing a reaction, on places where the cool breeze met my skin, I was heating up inside at the same time.
Couldn't figure out why this had such an impact on me but I knew why I was so surprised.
My mind all ready to reminisc. I smiled and gave my mind a ticket to fly back.

"I can't believe I'm actually here." Jake said whilst he casually put his legs on top of a big rock which happened to be right next to him. Jake is the all "I'm up for all that dope bullshit" kind of a boy. He's done so much wrong, been wrong to people including me (partly). I couldn't blame him though. Noone could. Because we knew the real him. He lost his brother a few months ago and he still can't accept the fact of Jim being not in his world anymore. He has changed every since this accident has happened. They got along very well. They were not only brothers, they were best friends. The bond between them was unbelievably strong. I could imagine how he felt. I mean I know how he feels. I lost a friend of mine too, the only difference between both cases was, he's still alive.
He used to be my best friend when we were young. Things has changed though. We got older and life got interesting as we grew older. Our paths separated.
He was so close but still so far away. I looked at him. The blue of his eyes was shining in this darkness. The shadows of the flickering flames were dancing on his face and he looked at me. Caught me in my trance once again.
Damn it.
"Well Jake, my dear, you know what? Just shut up! Don't you dare to ruin our trip. We're trying to have a good time here and all you have been doing was just bitching around. Why don't you just enjoy at least for the night huh?" Aliyah said whilst she was trying to set up the tents.
"Becau-"
"Guys Please! Why don't you go and get some wood. If we can't find anything to keep the fire burning before the night breaks in, we'll end up frozen by tomorrow." Jack demanded. Jack was Aliyah's boyfriend. They've been togeher for almost a year now. Eventhough they fight almost every five minutes, over such pointless stupid things, they can't let a day pass without seeing or talking to each other.
"I'll go." I said and stood up. I grabbed a flashlight and made my way deeper into the woods.
I was scared to go alone to be honest but it was better than to be the judge of Aliyah's and Jack's fight. I hated the darkness since I was little. I still do when there's no one to give me shelter. But, I love its beauty. I think the night is more beautiful then the day. Compared, the moon reveals it's beauty only when it can be fully seen. And the sun.. you can't even look at it without your eyes getting hurt. I stopped walking and gazed the moon for a short while. The stars were shining like diamonds around their queen of the night and it was just mesmerizing.
"What you looking at?" I heard Jake's voice behind me. I didn't need to turn around to check if it was him, I could always recognize his voice. Couldn't give a reason to his following though. I stood quiet for a moment.
"The moon." I answered. "I mean isn't it beautiful how god created the world? It's a breathtaking art. When you look closely, it's a whole another world in front of us." I said in a lower volume. I looked at the blue, star crowded sky. "People never realize though or actually pay attention."
"I know. but some people are not as fortunate as you to see natural beauty in simple things. You seem to see the beauty of everything. Whished everyone could be like you." He admitted.
It's so confusing that he's being so kind to me in situations or moments like this. Whenever I feel like I could need someone, he appears. Why? What is he trying to do? I thought he made it clear by telling me, that he doesn't want our friendship anymore. I didn't understand why.I to let him go. The thing is just, he is good to me now and treats me like shit afterwards. Where's the guy I know.. What happened to you...
I searched for wood we could need or use for the fireplace with the flashlight. It was so calm and silent that I could even hear him breathing right behind me.
"Hey, come here for a second." I did so. He pointed at something.
" I've never seen butterflies sleeping." We both approached it, trying to see it up close.
"They don't actually sleep. They aren't just nightactive." I kept on explaining. "They hang upside down underneath a leaf and wait for the sun to come out so they can fly again. They don't even have eyelids to close so theref-." I realized that he was looking at me and smiling.
"Why are you smiling?" "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I'm not.." He looked away, hiding the smile on his face.
"Look, this one is really beautiful."
I got closer to it, to see it better. The butterfly was absolutely stunning. It was brown and black patterned. This one kind was rare. As I was studying it's wings and was wondering how beautiful this creation was he suddenly said something unexpected.
"It has the same colour as your eyes..."
He stated quietly. He stood behind me. Not far away. I turned around. Now he was standing inches away from me. Our eyes collided
"I take it back, your eyes are even more beautiful to look at."
"We, we should better get back before they start looking for us." I suggested, but secretly wished that this could last longer.
"Yeah.. We better do butterfly."
Couldn't help the smile on my face.
I grabbed a few branches and wood I could found.
I made my way back, and hoped that he didn't see.

"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry. I just remembered something. That's it."
He softly grabbed me by my shoulder and pulled me in into his embrace.
"You don't have to be afraid of anything as long as I'm here."
I smiled. " I know."
