The snow was falling from the sky, and sticking to the ground. I watched in awe with my twin brother, as i thanked the lord. Snow sticking meant no school.
"Twins! Get your ass down here and help me set up this Christmas tree." My mom, Hazel, yelled up the stairs. She wasn't mad, she was just frustrated. That's how it always was.
"Come on Michael." I nudged him, bringing him out of his trance. We raced down the stairs, laughing as Michael almost fell. We rounded the corner, and laughed as our mother had the tree leaned against the wall. My father, Edward, came into the room holding a coffee mug. He shook his head and looked at me.
"That woman never listens." He mumbled, making me smile. My parents met in high school, and i have to say that they had an abusive relationship in the beginning. But, they hardly ever raised their voices at each other now.
"Oh shut up Eddie and help me. I'm getting too old for this stuff." My mom yells, locking eyes with my dad. He smiles at her, and helps her set the tree on the ring thing.
After a while, Michael and i were able to put the decorations on it. My parents went to bed, complaining that they didn't get enough sleep. I rolled my eyes, facing my brother. He had long black hair, natural too, and light blue eyes. He was taller than me, but not by much. We both shared the same blue eyes, and sharp features. Michael got my dad's booming laugh, and optimistic personality. I got my mom's curves, and attitude. We hardly looked like twins, but i was 6 minutes older than him. We will be turning 17 on Christmas Eve. Mom likes to get all gushy and say we were gifts from God but dad just says it was bad timing.
"What are you staring at?" He asks me, making me laugh.
"I was thinking of how i would look like with a penis, and then realized that i would be you." I joked, making him snort. We finish the decorations in silence. That's the one thing i love about Michael. He doesn't need to have a conversation with me to feel connected.
"Colt Yinger asked me out on a date yesterday." I blurt out. Colt was my brother's worst enemy. They hadn't gotten along since 8th grade when Colt tried to fight my brother. I ended up being the one to smack him.
Mikey flinched, and lock eyes with me. One thing we had in common was the stank look we gave people. Olivia, my best friend, likes to say that the look gives her chills down her spine. I now knew what she meant.
"And you declined him politely right?" Mike asks me, sitting the boxes back into the big tote we used for Christmas decorations. That's when i got quiet.
"Wellllll.." I started, making Mikey sigh.
"Audrey, for the love of God. You know that he's a prick." Mikey says, rolling his eyes. "But i suppose that if you wanna go out with him, you can. But, you tell me as soon as he does one wrong thing to you." Mikey's protective side always makes me laugh because he never gets this serious with anyone else. He's always happy and care free.
"Oh come on Mikey-Wikey. I'm not gonna let little ol Colt take away my innocence." I said, batting my eyelashes at him. He flicks me off, and helps me carry the totes into the basement. We walk up the stairs, and back into the living room.
"We really out did ourselves this time, Twin." I say, crossing my arms over my chest. The tree was about 7 feet tall, noting compared to the tall ceilings in our house. The red tinsel was around the tree, matching the red and gold bulbs around the tree. The tree topper was a home made thing from when Mikey and I were about 8.
"I totally agree." He says, smiling at me. I take my phone out of my back pocket and see a text from Olivia.
'Audrey! COLT YINGER ASKED YOU OUT? Why didn't you tell me?'
'Olive, I'm so sorry! I don't even wanna go. Michael's having a cow.'
'Oh come on A. Your twin can get over it. Colt is totally gorgeous.'
I roll my eyes at my best friend. She was red haired, and her personality matched. She was totally all over the place, and didn't care what anyone thought. I walked into the kitchen, grabbing the pretzels and M&M's my mom keeps for me. I walk back into the living room, and curl up on the couch. I click on the TV, and settle on some Christmas show on ABC Family.
'How much you wanna bet you're gonna get laid by Colt, then get pregnant, Run away from home, and become a stripper.'
Olivia's text made me laugh. It rang out into the room, making me realize that it was late.
'Olivia Rachelle Pierce! WATCH YOUR MOUTH. I don't even want to think about that! That's official. I'm not gonna go.'
The clock above the TV read 12. I really hoped that we didn't have school tomorrow. I set there till about 2, texting Olivia, who was trying to convince me to still go on the date.
I finally gave up, and made my way up the stairs to my bedroom. It was connected by a bathroom to Mikey's room. I fell into bed, instantly falling asleep.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
I woke up panting. I was having the dream where i couldn't find my Twin anywhere.
I sound like someone who needs my brother to survive. But, honestly i did. Michael was always there when he figured out i was about to fight some girl. Usually, it was over them saying something about my brother, and how close we were. He would always have ice cream ready for me when i was upset, and he never judged. He just helped. Honestly, he read my mind.
I got up from the bed, going into the bathroom. I seen Micahel's end open, and groaned.
"How many times have i tol-" I said, walking into his room. He was making out with some girl. "For the love of God Michael. If you're gonna get freaky, at least shut the door so i can't intrude." I slammed the door, it didn't even seem to bother them.
I rolled my eyes, locking his side so that no one can come in from his side. I showered, and left the bathroom. I was singing with my eyes close, wrapped in a towel and i didn't even see him. I ran smack into his hard chest and screamed.
Who knew that was how my relationship with Levi Anderson would start...
