Telling Chase that I was going to Ireland was one of the hardest discussions I've had to conduct in my lifetime. He had not known about my application to Dublin Music College because he never thought music would be a reliable career for me. I had decided it would only be fair to tell him about my acceptance in person, so I called him and asked to meet at the park near my house.
When I got there, Chase was sitting on a bench, looking concerned and slightly upset. "What took you so long? What's wrong, Codes?" He asked, staring at me confused, though I avoided his eyes as I took a seat next to him. The warm sun beamed down on my skin as I thought of how to start my confession. "A couple of months ago I applied to a music college.." I began fidgeting with my necklace anxiously. Chase sighs, frustrated. "Cody, I thought you had decided that you were going to Brock with me in fall. Why would you do that?" I felt my eyes filling with tears as I blurted out: "It's in Ireland, and I was accepted this morning." I had to admit, saying that out loud made me feel oddly relieved, though I knew Chase's reaction would change that instantly. "What the hell? Cody you've got to be kidding me. That's so selfish and I don't know if I can stay with you if you go through with this shit." His eyebrows furrowed in anger, turning away from me as a tear fell down my cheek. Guilt flooded through my veins and I reconsidered leaving for a moment, Chase had been my first love and I couldn't lose him over my unrealistic dream. Then a thought crossed my mind, and I grabbed Chase's shaking hand gently.

That was how the deal was decided. I would go to Dublin Music College for one term, and then come home to Brock with Chase. Although he was hesitant, I left him with a promise that I would not see any other guys while I was overseas.
