You were walking down the school corridors when you saw a group of girls huddled next to a poster on the notification board. There were a few girls you knew, they were all squealing. Curiosity got the better of you. You walked cautiously up behind the group of girls.

"What's going on?" You ask but your voice is barely above a whisper. You try again, "Um, what's going on?"

This time the three girls closest to you turn around with stupid smiles plastered on their faces. "Prom!" They all squeal together, nearly deafening you. They turn their backs to you once again and keep giggling with the rest of the girls that are huddled around the poster.

You turn you back on them and continue walking. Prom, Prom, the biggest social event in your high school life was coming up and you were anything but ready. Of course you wanted to go but, there isn't anyone who would even ask you to go.

Your brain was ticking, you only really had one friend, Shawn, but he probably already had a million girls waiting for him to ask them. Thinking about Shawn going with one of those fake giggling Barbie machines made your heart sink. You really liked Shawn and had liked him for a while now, but you were too afraid to admit it to him. Too afraid to ruin your friendship.

"I'm just not going to go." You whisper to yourself. What a waste of money, right? You tried to convince yourself, but it wasn't working.

"Hey, what's the matter?" You hear a familiar voice say behind you. You turn around, to see Shawn looking down at you with concerned eyes.

You quickly put a small smile on your face. "Nothing, why?"

"Oh, I don't know, you just seemed a bit upset, that's all." He said falling into step next to you. "Did you hear about prom next weekend?" Shawn asked.

You let out a sigh, "yeah, I don't think 'm going to go though." You say.

"Why not?" You couldn't help but notice that his voice seemed a bit deflated.

"Because you're going to go with your date and I don't have a date. I don't feel like third wheeling with my best friend."

"Who said I had a date?" Shawn said.

"You are kidding me aren't you?" You say turning around to face him. "You are the most attractive guy in our school. Every girl wants you to ask them to the prom this year because you are sweet and kind and really hot. Of course you are going to have a date." You say furiously just letting our thoughts out, not realising exactly what you were saying.

You turn your back on Shawn, but you stop when you hear him chuckling behind you. Only then does realization hit. You just told Shawn, your crush/best friend that he was hot. Your life was over.

"I didn't mean that, I mean you are attractive, but I just, um, what I meant to say-"You were cut off by Shawn's' voice.

"Every girl?" He asks.

"What?" You reply confused.

"Does every girl want me to go with them to the prom?" He clarifies.

"Well yeah." You say shyly looking down at your feet.

"That's great, because I already knew who I am going to ask to go to prom with me." He said.

"Well you better go and ask her then." You said and then started walking away trying to not let your feelings get the best of you.

"(Y/N) will you go to prom with me?"

You spin on your heels. Your eyes widen and your hand covers your mouth. "Well?" Shawn asks getting nervous his ears turning a reddish colour.

"Yes." You nearly yell. "Yes." You repeat calmer.
