I Get Outsmarted By Dogs

        I trip over a giant boulder as I run blindly through the woods. Stopping was not an option, especially now. The hounds were after me. 

        They are huge, vicious dogs, bred specifically for killing. To have even one was a symbol of a very very rich person. A decade of my earnings would not even get me a dying hound. I see the giant walls ahead of me. All I do is keep running.

        The wall looms over me. It rises over twenty feet tall, with small grooves left from the bricks. These I use to climb up and over. Too late, I see some of the hounds were sent to intercept me at the wall, and they are waiting for me there. My only choice is to fight them.

        I pull my dirk out of it's cover, and I hold it ready at my side. As I slow down my running, I am surrounded completely by the mutts. They growl at me, some barking. They recognize my scent, I can tell. I've killed at least two of them, and they have true family feelings. They want revenge, but I won't let them have it.

        The first of the dogs jump at me, teeth flashing white in my face. I launch my foot up, and kick the mutt squarely in the jaw. The next one to come gets judo flipped to the ground. The huge Alpha bares his teeth at me, growling. I recognize it as a challenge, and I prepare my self for the attack.

        He jumped. I rolled away from him, letting him see now my speed. He lunges again, but I kick quickly at his chest. But that kick's light, and barely affects him. Alpha jumps at me one last time, and I finish him. I pull the dirk away, and I hold it out towards the pack. They see the blood, and they are terrified of me. One by one, they trickle away until I am standing alone. Two of the last dogs even took the Alpha's body .

        I climb quickly up the wall, pausing slightly to find handholds. I've done this before, but I've never had a close call like that one. My mother told me to never give up, and I needed what was in the compound. It's a medicine that will heal my brother, Ilios from the Evolution. My father told us about it, and especially how to stop it, right before he died.
