2009
"London, I don't know why you're even at the hospital. He'll be fine, he was last time."
"Kelsea, how can you be so heartless towards him? After everything?" I cried out to her on the phone.
"Exactly, after everything! You act like this man hasn't put you through hell. He's your ex husband honey, move on! He's the same person that tried to take everything away from you. If I were you, I would curse the ground he walks on."
"You're not me, though. You were too young to remember all of it, but things used to be so... good. He's still a huge part of me." I said hanging up the phone. Anxiety had taken over my body, if I didn't calm down, I'd have a panic attack.
1982
As we walked in arm in arm, all around me were familiar faces, famous faces. Nobody really bothered to speak to me, and if they did, it was "Hey look, it's Chelsea and her daughter!" I wasn't thought of as much, other than Chelsea Preston's daughter, and it's okay, understandable. As an actress and a model, people value her image a lot. I didn't mind not being called by my name, of course not. I didn't like most of them anyway.
"Oh Chelsea, darling! I've been waiting for you! I have so many people for you to meet before the 1983!" Elizabeth ran to us excitedly when she saw us. "And you, London! Come here, let me kiss your cheeks!" She dramatically kissed both of my cheeks and pinched them, causing me to smile. Flamboyant and perky, yes, but Liz could always make me smile.
"Liz... I'm not a baby." I giggled.
"I almost forgot you're 21! Oh my, these kids make us feel so old!" She laughed.
"Londy, how about you go... socialize? Make some friends, it's a party after all." My mother said, half smiling at me.
"Alright, Miss Chelsea Preston." I smiled and walked away. Although I had no intentions of making friends or even socializing, I didn't want to be a burden on my mother. She'd come to have herself a good time, and I wouldn't come between that.
I found an empty seat at a table next to a big window. I sat quietly, picking at the sides of my nails until I felt presence beside me.
"When Liz does it, she does it big, huh?" I asked, not looking up, but flicking my eyebrows toward the overhead chandelier.
"I'll say." The soft voice said, and I immediately knew who it was. I looked up and smiled.
"Michael." He held his hand out.
"I'm... I'm London Preston." I shook his hand.
"I know, your mother told me about you. Said you were a nice girl." He said smiling. "She's a nice lady too. She said I should try talking to you sometime."
I covered my face with my hands. "She really said that?" I said, the sound muffled through my hands.
"Yes. I was going to anyway, but she said you didn't have a lot of friends and so-"
""What?! I have lots of friends!"
"Really?"
"Yes, really. That's ridiculous, wow. I'm friends with... These two girls named Peyton and Kelsea." I sighed.
"Aren't those your little sisters?" My face turned bright red. "It's okay, my only friends growing up were my siblings too." He said sincerely, with his hand on top of mine.
"You could be out singing Thriller somewhere right now, yet you choose to be here?" I questioned him and pulled my hand from under his. "Are you high?"
