Chapter 9

"Mai...will you marry me?"

"Chrollo...I...I..." I stuttered, not knowing what to say, not knowing how to feel.

What would you do?

I know it's strange for me to get this deep in my feelings since this whole time I've just been going on with this wave of events not knowing how to go about it to the point of even accepting death.

Every other man I've encountered has only ever hurt me. Built a future in my mind then destroyed it completely. I have always thought it was me, I blamed myself for it all. All I've ever wanted was something I've yearned for, a family. A husband that I could call my best friend, someone I would be able to live happily with and create beautiful tiny humans, is that too much to ask for. I never thought this would happen to me and definitely not like this, but is it wrong for me to want that. Ok yes, I've only known him for a short amount of time, does that matter. I mean if he makes me feel safe and good about myself and it's something I'm willing to try, can't I?

I stood there looking at this gorgeous man kneeling in front of me and I'm speechless. He has been nothing but respectful and patient with me. Yet this is a man who appeared out of no where and I must remind you he had me kidnapped. He who is obviously a criminal or in the least in charge of them. Does any of this make sense?

Time stood still as a few droplets fell on his face and a sudden downpour began. We looked out to the city from the balcony as the rain came down like a blanket making it all glisten. We gazed in awe for a moment when a gust of wind combined with the rain made us wince.

"Mai!!!!" I heard Chrollo yell out.

I opened my eyes to find that I was being pulled off of the balcony towards the top of the building. I panicked not knowing what was happening and all I could do was curl and hide in my arms as I screamed out to Chrollo. This all happened so fast I had no time to react and yet I wasn't terrified considering it all.

I felt someone swing me across their shoulder and begin making their way through the city roof tops.

"Who are you?!" I demanded, squirming trying to get free and remembering my injury. I heard them chuckle I could tell they were smirking. I couldn't make out who this was as they were fully covered in dark clothes and I couldn't move my body to where I could see their face. We traveled quickly and for a while I dozed off, I guess I'm not worried about my own safety anymore or maybe I'm just not sure where to go from here. I'm taking advantage to think about everything that's happened with Chrollo. We finally came to a complete stop and I woke up to a man's voice

"We meet again." He said as he gently placed me on the ground in front of a green door that lead us to the entry way of a fairly nice home.

Hi...soka???

He smirked at me noticing that I was more confused than I was just moments ago waking up from my thoughtless nap. What just happened? How did he know where I was and why did he bring me here, I found myself asking a second time. I was under the impression he and Chrollo were acquainted. Am I just a chess piece in a deranged game that they are playing. I'm really starting to feel like they is my life right now.

What is up with these handsome men thinking they can just sweep me away whenever they please? Am I some sort of a doll to them? I promise you I'm not attractive enough to even slightly agree and I find it extremely difficult to believe they have determined this on their own.

"Can you please explain to me why you have brought me here?" I asked him wanting to understand the situation. Events like this are becoming frighteningly too familiar to me and all I can do is ask.

Hisoka buried his eyes into his left hand for a moment as if he was squeezing an answer out his mind. He then looked at me straight in the eyes, pushed his eyebrows together almost making a worried face then sucked on his bottom lip and smirked as he chuckled. I sat across from him in this comfy living room waiting for him to say something, anything.
