Chapter one

Raven's POV

"Are you completely sure you've got everything Raven?"

"For the 100th time, yes!" I yelled back, starting to get frustrated. I know mother's just trying to look out for me seeing as it's my first year going to Hogwarts but this is getting ridiculous.

"Hey, sib, remember what I said about people who dont respect pronouns?"

"Bitch slap them, I know."

My elder brother, Henry, nodded and messed up my hair, he claimed it was affectionate but I just found it annoying. I think he also likes showing off how much taller he is than me. Mother managed to get my name changed on the school records so I don't have to worry about that. I'm lucky to have a supportive family, I know a lot of pure blood families don't like the trans community. Or anyone in LGBTQ+ to be honest but mother and Henry accept me so I don't care. It did take a it of explaining that they/them isn't just plural but we got there eventually.

"Alright children, let's go. Have you said goodbye to Lacey both of you?" Mother finally walked downstairs to where we were standing by the fireplace. We nodded quickly, excited to get going. She smiled fondly and hugged each of us before getting the flu powder down.

"Remember to take care of your sibling Henry," she told him before throwing the powder into the fireplace. We grabbed our luggage and stepped in together.

Henry stepped out onto the platform ahead of me, brushing soot off his clothing as I did the same behind him, looking around excitedly.

"Mrs Blackthorn said Jamie won't be here till 10:30 and its currently 9," He comments, checking the time. "So you can come sit with me and my friends for a bit or you wander around like a loner."

I poked his side playfully, "I'll sit with you guys."

Henry and his friends are fifth years, but they come over a lot during the summer and they like me. Jamie Blackthorn is my best friend, his mother and mine were friends at Hogwarts and we grew up together. We're both starting school this year.

Henry nods and picks up his trunk, walking towards the back of the train where he always sat since first year. Apparently it was the compartment the marauders used. Famous pranksters or something, they had a map of Hogwarts which was pretty cool. Fred and George Weasley found it in Filch's office at some point and used it to show me where everything in the school is last summer. Mother doesn't really like Henry being friends with the Weasley's but as long as it doesn't get him expelled she doesn't mind that much.

When we reached the carriage the only person there was Lee Jordan, the Weasley twin's best friend, he didn't like me that much because I'd nearly killed his pet spider. The pet spider he was playing with when me and Henry came in. I tried not to outwardly shudder at the sight of it and sat as far away from him as possible, getting out a book to read. Henry sat in between us and talked to Lee for a bit before he said something that made me pay attention.

"Did you guys know Harry Potter is coming to Hogwarts this year?"

I shut my book and looked at him, "you mean the-boy-who-lived Harry Potter?"

"Do you know anyone else by that name?"

I shrugged, "just checking."

"Ten gallons says he's in Slytherin," Henry grabs my book and holds his hand out.

I laughed and shook it. Both his parents had been Gryffindor and Dumbledore's favourites, which I knew from hearing father talk about before he died.

"Be prepared.."
"..to loose.."
"..ten gallons to.."
"..your baby sibling.."
"..Redstone.."
The twins.

Fred Weasley walked in and sat next to Lee, followed by his twin, George, who sat directly opposite me and handed me a pack of muggle gum. The only way I was able to tell them apart was the little agreement we had going. I grinned and handed him a handful of chocolate frog cards in return before going back to my book.

"Why do you seem so sure I'm gonna loose?" Henry frowns.

"Well you see.."
" ..ickle Ronnikins has made friends with him.."
"..and is probably telling him all sorts of stuff about Slytherin."

Me and Henry rolled our eyes in sync and I checked the time, "half ten! Finally! Later losers." I grabbed my trunk and ran out to find Jamie

About twenty minutes later I'd rescued Jamie from his mother and we'd finally managed to find an empty compartment. It was very cramped but neither of us minded as we shoved our trunks under our sets and collapsed next to each other. Almost bouncing with excitement as the train finally took off.

"We're going to Hogwarts!"
