The next morning Aaliyah woke up. She felt for Dre but he wasn't there. She reached for her phone which was now fully charged after being dead all night and saw miss calls from Carmen.
Aaliyah sat up and called her back.
"Hey?", Carmen answered. "You good?"
"Yea", Aaliyah said. "My phone was dead"
"Yea I know. Where are you?", Carmen asked.
"Dre's house", Aaliyah said.
"Oh. Thought y'all weren't talking", she said.
"How'd you know that?", Aaliyah asked.
"He told me", Carmen said.
Dre walked into the room and saw that Aaliyah was on the phone.
Aaliyah looked at him then continued talking. "We're fine now", she said.
"That's good", Carmen said. "But I was just calling to me sure you were okay"
"Yea. I'm fine", Aaliyah replied.
Dre pulled out two guns and some bullets.
"Okay. Wanna come with me to find something to wear for the funeral tomorrow?", Carmen asked.
"Yea sure", Aaliyah said.
"Okay. I'll let you know when",Carmen said.
"Okay. See you later", Aaliyah said.
"Alright"
Aaliyah hung. "You have a pink gun?", Aaliyah asked looking at his guns.
"That's for you", he said.
Aaliyah makes a face.
"Imma teach you how to shoot", he said.
"Well damn how many girls you teach to shoot?", she questioned as she stood up and walked to him.
"I actually brought this for you", he said.
"So you brought me a gun?", she questioned.
"I mean like do you even have one?", he asked.
"...yea.", she said. "Had it for a few years now"
"Oh...", he said. "I guess I was wrong then"
Aaliyah looked down.
"So do you know how to shoot?", he asked.
Aaliyah shook her head.
"So why did you buy one if you don't know how to use it", he asked.
"Well I didn't buy it, I stole it and honestly I didn't buy it for protection", she said.
"So why did you buy it? Tryna look like you bout it or sum?", he asked with a chuckle.
Aaliyah kept a straight face.
Dre stopped smiling and loaded the guns. "...I take it that, that wasn't the case", he said.
Aaliyah shook her head.
"Wanna talk about it?", he asked.
Aaliyah shook her head and again.
Dre nods and grabs both the guns.
"I thought your son was here", she said.
"Nae just got him", he said.
