AKIN

I adjust the purple bow tie, my gaze on the mirror in front of me and put on the black tuxedo jacket complete with black brogues. The whole ensemble looks nice and I must say I look even handsome than I normally do.

I flash a grin at my reflection and turn in different poses. A bored face pokes his head into my reflection and just like that the smile runs away.

"Are you done, cause I'm tired of staring at you being stupid," Ifeanyi being his normal cheerful self says and I hiss.

"Why are you ruining my day ehn wetin your face dey find for my mirror."
What's your face doing in my mirror

"Guy do make we comot for here joor you go dey look like say na you fine pass." Emeka speaks up from his seat by the changing room.

"Abi o help me tell am o when no be say na him dey do wedding sef." Ifeanyi hisses and I give him the stink eye.
Help me tell him when he's not even the one getting married

One of these days I'm going to throw this guy in the river and watch as the water carries him away for me.

"You guys are just hating on me cause I'm the best man." I stick my tongue out at them and strike another pose. "E dey pain una for body but as per the best man I gas to look good na."
You guys are just jealous but I have to look good being the best man

"Because you be best man now person no go hear word again abi." Ifeanyi says and I laugh. It just feels good to rub it in his face, he wanted to be the best man but he isn't and it's not like he made me his best man when he got married last year.

"Idiot, fool, he-goat." he grumbles and that just makes me laugh harder.

Femi comes out of the changing room all decked up in his tux and flashes us a smile.

"How do I look guys?." he asks and Emeka speaks up before any of us.

"You look good now lets go I'm hungry already ahn ahn when you're not a woman, you've been in there for hours already wetin you dey do. Besides who the hell comes for their fitting just a week to their wedding anyway."

"It's like they're frying plantain on your head, was it not all of us that came here to get our measurements done two months ago so the tuxedo can be custom made." Femi fires at him and I chuckle.

"I wonder how your fiancée manages with you self all you know is food." I tease.

"Ehn thank you supporter's club sha let's go I'm too hungry for all your nonsense this afternoon." Emeka says.

Two of the attendants comes to our aid and takes the tuxedos back as we take them off.

"Please don't mix up the address and have this delivered on Friday." Femi instructs and we exit the store.

"I can't wait for Saturday to come it feels like I should just go to sleep tonight and wake up on my wedding day," he says excitedly and I laugh.

For a guy who loves women he sure is excited to get tied down to one. His excitement makes me remember how excited I was during my wedding preparation. I had been so excited and eager to get married, I had refused to stay away from Desire the eve of our wedding. Though we'd slept on the same bed several times, Desire hadn't let me make love to her she had insisted on breaking her virginity on the night of our wedding.
Thinking back now, maybe if we had stayed away like we were supposed to things wouldn't have turned out the way they did and she'd still be here with me.

It's been three whole years since I last saw her and despite all my efforts to find her, I haven't been successful. I've hired all the private investigators I could find but it's like she doesn't want to be found. No social media presence at all and she'd even moved out of her apartment three years ago with no traces.

I've not so much as looked at another woman ever since she left, I've been celibate with no one to warm my bed even though I've had several proposals from women who are more than willing to warm my bed every night, and I'll remain that way till she comes back.

For all I know she's probably moved on already but the thought of my wife with another man just makes me upset and I'd rather hold on to hope that she still thinks of me than the alternative.

We walk into the first restaurant we see and take a seat at a table of five, Emeka rushes off to order our food and I take my phone out to check my emails. A message pops up on the screen and I open it, a nude picture of Stella– a friend of Femi's fiancée who's made her feelings for me quite obvious– shows and I shake my head.

The woman is relentless, I've told her several times that I'm married but she refuses to listen, it's like it goes in one ear and goes out the other. I delete the picture immediately and put my phone back in my pocket.

Emeka comes back a while later with a spring in his step and a smile on his face, he takes a seat in front of me and wiggles his brows at me.

"Guess what?." he asks and I oblige.

"I just saw a totally hot waitress and I think she likes me, I mean who can resist my dashing good looks," he says and I raise a questioning brow.

"Guy don't you have a fiancée?." Ifeanyi asks.

"Of course I do but it doesn't hurt to see a pretty girl and admire her that's hardly cheating and besides she was the one flirting with me," he looks up and taps the table, "Here she comes guys you'll see what I'm talking about."

A dark skinned lady in a uniform walks up to us and brandishes a radiant smile at us, she puts down a tray full of food and Emeka and Femi carry their plates.

"I'll be back with the rest of your order," she totally ignores Emeka and leaves.

Few minutes later, she comes back with the rest of the food. I pick up my plate of jollof rice and a napkin falls on the table, it has a lipstick stain and a number is written on it. I look up to see the waitress still standing there, she makes a phone call gesture and mouths 'call me'. She winks at me and sashays away, making sure to shake her bountiful ass as she leaves.

Emeka stares at her retreating figure with his mouth wide open and Ifeanyi snickers.

"Yeah she definitely couldn't resist your dashing looks." Femi mocks and he glares at him.

"Sorry bro maybe next time," Ifeanyi taps his shoulder while laughing and Emeka shrugs off his hand.

"Shut up joor." he fires further increasing his laughter and I chuckle. My friends are definitely something else.
