Chapter 2

Two damn weeks.

It has been two weeks since that unexpected encounter I had with the handsome doctor, and although we've exchanged numbers, he still hasn't contacted me.

And as for me, I was too shy to make the first move. Much to my best friend's disappointment.

I even prepared a birthday present for him. I had my four e-books printed and made into physical copies. The only copy of each one. Yes, I only met him fourteen days ago but I gave him that privilege.

I knew he did something to me and my poor heart when I spent a good hour trying to look for a pretty ribbon to wrap them with.

The special books sat sadly in one of the metal shelves here in my office, and the package looked as lonely as I was.

Araw araw akong naghihintay na makatanggap ng text message mula sa kaniya, and everyday I end up being disappointed.

I had the answer in seconds.

Because for quite a while, I've finally felt something different again. A good kind of different, and it was all because of him and his stupid gray eyes.

Mukha siyang dinumog ng sampung baka sa ayos niya, and she was carrying about 13 folders in her arms.

I wanted to laugh at her but I knew better.

"Olivia! Are you okay?"

She placed a hand on her waist, "Ma'am..."

I let her. It looked like she needed it more than I did.

"Anong nangyari sa'yo?", tanong kong muli.

She raised a finger at me habang tuloy tuloy pa rin sa pag-inom ng tubig. Straight, without pausing to breathe.

"Aurora!"

I flinched at the volume of her voice and with the way she screamed merely inches away from my face. I raised a perfectly arched eyebrow at her.

You didn't inform him?"

I had to sell those shares because I needed to pay his debt when he lost almost three million in poker. Clearly, my father didn't know when to back down. He didn't know how to distinguish a bluff from a real call, and I was the one who had to suffer from his stupid mistakes and his pride.

"Oh, ano raw sabi?"

And even though this job wasn't my choice, this office had become my safe haven from him.

I had to cut off employees in order to save the dying company. We have barely risen from the debris of what he left, but he was out and about creating more problems for me to sort out and waste my time on.
