Breathing in the cold, polluted air, I let out a hesitant breath. After several years in Tokyo, I finally came back to Korea.

Walking out of the airport, luggage in hands, I call a taxi. It arrives and I ask the man to drive me to an apartment. We arrive, I pay the driver and get out. Shutting the door, I look up at the towering building.

It was a good 5 stories high and a chic gray color. I enter the building and find an old man sitting on the counter. He looks up from his newspaper. I walk to the counter, my heels clicking on the wooden floor.

"How may I help you?" The man asks in a bored tone. "Could I rent an apartment?" I ask as he takes a pen and paper from behind the counter.

"Alright this is the contract, pay $200 every month, or get kicked out." He explains, grumpily. He slides me the pen and paper.

Not being stupid, I read through the contract, making sure it did not have unreasonable rules. After verifying, I sign my name on the paper.

He extends his hand to me. I rummage through my wallet, pulling out two hundees.

(Mama got rich in Tokyo).

I hand it to him as he hands me keys and a room plate.

Finally settling in, I plop down on the floor. The apartment was very limited to furniture. A simple bed in the bedroom and a dining table in the kitchen. I looked around at the spacious living room.

I get up with a huff. I grabbed my keys and bag off the counter. I walk out locking the door.

I didn't have anything to do, might as well tour around.

I walk out of the aparment, the cold air slapping me into reality. Rubbing my covered arms, I puff out a breath.

Soon, I find myself walking towards a park. I watched as little kids played on the swings, their parents watching them with warm smiles on their faces.

An ice cream truck rolls in and I watch as the kids run up to their parents, begging for ice cream. I smile to myself.

I sit down on a bench as children cry out from their parents denying them. I even manage a snicker.

My happiness dissolves as I hear little cries from behind me. I furrow my eyebrows, looking behind me. There, in the bushes was a small child crying.

With worry lacing me, I stood up from the bench and walked over. I crouch in front of the kid, who didn't even notice me. I slowly raise my hand to lay it on his shoulder.

He looks up, startled. "Hey kid - " and before I could continue, he rushes into my arms. I get taken aback by the sudden contact, but stroke his back nonetheless.

"Hey, kid. What you doing out here?" I ask, concern lacing my voice. He sniffles into my neck.

He smelled familiar.

I pull back from him. "Why are you crying?" I try asking again. He shakes his head, pouting. I look around trying to spot his parents. I look down at him.

Why did he remind me of someone?

Doe-eyes, vanilla scent, chubby cheeks.

I find the ice cream truck and a thought pops into my head. "Do you want ice cream?" I ask and he nods his head cutely. I stand up from the crouch position and rush to the ice cream truck.

I ask for chocolate and vanilla ice cream. I rush back to the child, who was sitting on the bench. I sit down next to him and hand him the chocolate ice cream. He gladly accepts and chows it down.

I take small licks at my vanilla ice cream.

After both finishing our ice creams, he looks at me with chocolate covering his mouth. I chuckle before wiping his mouth.

"Now, will you answer my questions?" I ask as he lays on my lap. "Who are you?"

"My name is Mi Gguk."

Mi Gguk?

"And who are your parents?"

He giggles before running somewhere. I was caught of guard at his sudden energy. I quickly run after him, only to find a woman hugging him.

"Mi Gguk-ah," she says, hugging him.

A man comes out of a car, rushing to them. I look at the family with a tight smile. The woman pulls back and only now notices me. Mi Gguk runs to the man, hugging his legs.

"Daddy!"

The woman catches my attention. "Who are you?" She asks in a rude matter.

I stutter out an answer.

"I-I saw him crying, I just bought him ice cream." The woman's face softens. "Thank you," she says as she turns to the man. I finally look up at the man.

My head starts pounding. I grab my head as I their voices fade. I fall to the ground with a thump. And then everything went black.

Areum-ah, it's me.

How could you forget me?

Please don't forget me.
