CHAPTER TWO

With great effort my eyes opened slowly and let the light disturb my peace. I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hands. Last night flashed before my eyes and I turned my head to see her face but I was alone.

I couldn't process that she was gone , and I couldn't stop thinking Where is she.

My head started spinning and I fell on my knees. I brang my hands to rub my temples, hoping it would clear things out but then I saw the small marks on the dirt.

Someone took her. I got up and , gathering all my strength and hope left, I headed their way.

After a day without stopping my march,my legs hurt and I couldn't feel my toes but I kept going. She could be in danger, tortured. I shook my head hoping these thoughts would go away, but with no use. Flames burned through my muscles but I rejected the feel, the only thing distracting me was the thin piece of paper floating lazily before falling in front of my muddy boots.

I stopped to grab the piece of paper lying on the dirt, it was a map. I quickly scanned for my location and found out that they were heading to the city, it would take two days by foot but if I take the forest road it would take five hours less.

I looked at my legs, they were bleeding. I didn't realize I walked into something until now, I was just walking. I sighed and changed my destination.

Forest it is.

Mirages kept appearing in my way and every time I ran towards them hoping that for the first time in my life,it would be the real thing. I was dragging my feet, leaving my tracks everywhere I went.

A pleasant sound made my ears tingle and I ran towards the source in a desperate action. I sank my head into the clear water just I feel it's coldness tickling my face. I smiled and drank with all my might. When I raised my head from the water just to see a white deer watching me with sparkling eyes, I got up and took a step towards it, the deer didn't even flinch. I placed foot after foot until I was in front of it. I held up my hand and It took a little step forward to touch it with it's forehead. The corners of my lips curved to creat a genuine smile and I slowly placed my hands on his neck while he lowered his head so that it would be resting on my shoulder, and I burst . Tears start appearing from the corners of my eyes, wetting the white fur.I cry because I remember. I remember the accident, the reasons , my flaws. I am a mistake, I am unwanted and I should've died. My parents abandoned me, my sister left me, my adoptive parents threw me out and I am an outsider. The deer slowly lifted it's head and ran. There goes my only company.I wiped my tears and collapsed on the ground , I couldn't resist long to the urge to disconnect from this world and drift into the dream.

"Your struggles can't help you" A deep voice blasted through an empty room. I tried to get up but couldn't find the needed energy so I collapsed and soon the cold pavement tickled my hand and somehow I felt the urge to laugh , I clenched my jaw so Icouldn't even crack a smile and grabbed the nearest object. The curtains fell over me and I couldn't stop , my laugh echoed through the halls until it became a low murmmur. Someone pulled the curtains off me and shouted with his deep voice,
"What's so funny?" At that I laughed even harder. His hand gripped my wrist and I used it to help myself get up. Shaking my head I spoke the first words this day.
"Not a good way to treat a lady" with that being said an overwhelming energy coruppted my body and I kicked him in the stomach , his knife falling to the ground making a pleasant sound for me but the worst for him. I quickly grabbed it by it's handle, placed the blade above his heart and pushed then I gasped as I realized I killed someone, I was no longer happy, confident, I was scared. My hands made their way to my face as no longer innocent tears filled my eyes. And then the sound of a gunshot filled the air.

I woke up as I started panting and trembling and felt something warm touching my back, something alive. Fear gripped me and I slowly turned . The great white deer stood in front of me, and I slipped my hand into its fur before placing my whole head and relaxing onto it. My mind emptied and again I drifted into sleep, this time dreamless.
