The rain drizzled and I could hear the thunder rumble in the distance. I walked gloomily through the rainy night time streets of New York. I was wearing all black for I was returning from my brothers funeral. He did not perish from an illness nor old age nor an accident, no, he was murdered. A bullet hole was found in his chest and then heart and stomach. I had already shed all the tears I could possibly shed, so I just took my time to walk. Moments later, my phone rang. "Hello?",I asked.
"Hey, Faith. It's me Audrey.",it was my older sister.
"Oh, hey Audrey.",I said.
"So, how you holding up, kiddo?",she asked.
"I'm fine, I would. Do better if mom and dad were here, though",I answered. Our parents were murdered as well. I was in high school.
"We all wish they were here, Faith",she said.
"I know",I sighed.
"Faith, listen. It's going to be ok. And your going to be fine.",she reassured.
"I know I am",I responded.
"I promise you. We will find out who did this and we will have justice.",she promised.
"I know",I said.
"Hey kiddo. Stay strong. And if you ever need any thing... Just let me and Jeff know, ok?",Jeff was my oldest brother. So, it was: Jeff, Audrey, Hans, and me. Hans is the one that died.
"Ok.",I said.
"Love you, A.U.",I said.
"Love you too, kid. Bye",and she hung up the phone. I wasn't a kid. In fact, I am actually 21 years old, recently. I have a job, too. I'm a reporter on the New York Times paper. My parents were reporters as well with the New York Times, and everyone at the office was practically their family. So, I took this job in honor of my parents. Now I was alone again. I began to fiddle with my bracelet that was precious to me. I never take it off for it was given to me by a dear friend who disappeared several years ago. His name was Sam. We'd been friends for as long as I could remember and did everything together. Until, in our freshmen year in high school, he had to move. Before he left, gave me a silver bracelet. It was a simple bracelet and it was kept on my left arm as a promise. He told me to promise to wait for him and he promised to come back. We kept in contact for several months until he just stopped talking to me entirely. Hurt and confused, I waited. Thinking about his promise to come back but he never did. Once I got the news that he was missing and most likely dead, my life just fell apart. But I couldn't think about that now. I continued on my walk for a few minutes, and by that time it was raining cats and dogs. I mean it was pouring down hard. Great... I thought and I wrapped my arms around myself. I had no umbrella and no hat. So my dark brown hair was drenched making it look black and my black dress soggy. But I did have on my black suit jacket. In fact my whole outfit was: a black sleeveless pencil dress, a black suit coat, black stockings, and black high-heels. The streets where lite up by the traffic lights and pedestrians with umbrella's passed by. The thunder rumbled over head with bright flashes of lightning. I walked past an alley way, when a hand shot out from the darkness and grabbed me. Another hand muffled my screams and I was pinned against the brick wall in the darkness. "Well well well. Look at what we have here.",a gruff voice said. My eyes adjusted to see who it was. A large man, who was anything but Known to me, with two goons behind him. They all had black caps on and we're wearing black as well. "Ya, what's a pretty little girl like you doing in these rough parts of New York?",one behind him said. "Hm, you know what? I think you need a proper showing of what happens to kittens like you in places like these, Sweetheart",said the one holding me down, snickering. He slowly slid his hand over my shoulder and slid my jacket off. My heart beat quickened to an almost deadly rate. Blood pounding in my ears and my body shook uncontrollably. "Aw, what's this? Little girls is scared?",the gruff man said, leaning in my ear. He then moved his face from my ear to my neck and inhaled a breath on the way down and smelling my perfume. "Mmmm, vanilla...",he said giving me a wicked smile. He then through me off the wall and into the arms to his biggest goon. The large man wrapped both of his arms around my body. "You know, it's a shame a body like yours has to go to waste.",The main man said. He laid his hand on my cheek and slid his finger around my jaw. I then heard a click and cold metal was pressed to my head. "Nighty-night, princess...",he said, very close to my face. Turning my head, I closed my eyes and waited for the shot, but it never came. Suddenly, the large mans grip on me was released. Opening my eyes, I see men fighting. I backed up to the corner of the alley and watched what was going on from a short distance. There were three muggers and another man. This man had a completely black suit. All of his face was covered, except his eyes. He fought the men like no problem. He did flips of the wall and several other flips. He was like a ninja. In fact he looked like one, but I could tell he was not. He seemed to have enough of these guys. I mean they just could not take a hint. They would get hit very hard and get right back up. The ninja like man took out a staff and began fighting with that. Then. Unsheathed two blades and slashed skillfully at the creepy killers. He stabbed the smaller goon in the chest and The larger goon in the throat. They slumped to the floor dead. Putting back his swords he took out his staff again and knocked the man who held me against the wall so hard he seemed to be unconscious. The man in black, put up his staff and looked at the unconscious man on the ground. He then kicked his head so hard I heard the neck snap. I winced at the sound of the crack. He too is dead. The man in black was breathing heavily with his back turned to me. The rain now harder than ever before, pouring down on us. Several moments of complete and utter silence was held. Nothing could be heard except his heavy breathing, my heart rate, and the heavy rain. I involuntarily make a slight whimper at the horrifying scene. A flash of lightning lite up the alley. He then spun around to face me. I gasped, wanting to back up, but I was already pressing myself against the wall. When his gaze meet mine, I could see his eyes clearly now. They were a very bright and very clear green. In fact, the brightest eyes I've ever seen, and I come from a family of bright and blue eyed people. Now that does not mean that I have blue eyes. I, strangely enough, have bright greenish-hazel eyes. I also have my mothers eyes. He looked intensely at me. Another strike of lightning, and he was standing right in front of me. I squeaked in surprise. But he just stood there looking down at me. For what seemed like several minutes but was actually a few seconds, he lifted up his lower arm towards me. I looked at him, then his extended lower arm, he held out my drenched jacket to me. But his gaze never ceased me. I slowly reached out my hand to grab the jacket but my arms and hands were trembling greatly. With a flash of a movement, he grabbed my wrist with his blacked gloved one. I jumped at the sudden physical contact. Pulling my arm a little bit closer to him, he flipped my wrist over. He then grabbed my bracelet and slid my silver bracelet off. He held it close to his face and examined it closely. A moment of two passed, until he finally stopped. His grip tightened on my wrist and he sighed, closing his eyes. He slowly looked back at my soaked trembling form and set the precious bracelet back in my hand. He then placed my hand at my side and swung the coat around my shoulders. He could tell I was very frightened, obviously. I focused on his eyes. They were bright and vibrant. His unnatural green eyes looked straight into mine. The reason I even notice is because even though I could just see his eyes I could tell there was something very strange about him. Something unnatural. Mutated. A flash of lightning and a roll of thunder startled me out of my haze. Once my vision came back from the bright flash, he was gone. I mean, literally vanished. I blinked my eyes several times to see whether or not what I saw was real or not but if I was still in the dark alley, then yes it was all real.
