I glanced at Fitzgerald. How could he be so charming? He always seemed to have an aura that would lure me in, as if he was a siren entrancing me into his spell - and it worked. His height gave him a towering presence as he stood over me; It was the perfect height for a classic romance film.

Is this what love truly feels like?

It felt alluring, almost like an addiction. If looks were like money, Fitzgerald would be a billionare - every day. His messy hair, following the gentle breeze of the wind, was paired together with his sleek and simple fit of a plain white shirt with black cargo pants. His outfit was so simple, yet so well put together; It made him look even better. I could envision us together. In my life, in my future - He was there with me, his hand guiding me through every step of the way, and his pure smile with his puffed-up cheeks yet slim jawline. He was the stars in my eyes, and I loved him - to the moon and back.

___

Faint gasps and mumbling grew more distant and distant. Soon, it was silence.

Fitzgerald swept his hair back, revealing his eyes - glowing and magnificent. If you stared at his eyes long enough, you would never remember what you wanted to say. His veiny hands held a large bouquet of roses, along with a handmade card in his hand. Though it looked quite unlike those in the shops, anyone would love it as long as it was from him. Because that was how impactful Fitzgerald was. If he told the world to stop, even just for a split second, the world would bow down at his command and freeze.

Was today the day my delusions would become reality?

I paced around my locker, taking quick glances at him, quickly touching my hair up so I looked perfect in his eyes. Right as I held the door to my locker, I realised that his eyes were not facing me.

They were facing Lyra, the school's hearthrob.

Of course he would go after her.

She was the epitome of perfection - Her hair was always right, her clothing would wrap around her waist, revealing her slim hourglass figure, and her makeup always seemed to make her stand out even more. If anything, you could say that Fitzgerald and Lyra were twins - both with equally enough impact to rule the world together in harmony.

"Lyra."

Fitzgerald finally opened his mouth. His lips were pursed, as he fiddled with his hands. He never, ever did that.

"Fitzgerald? Can I help you?"

Lyra simply replied back. She looked so nonchalant, but I knew that she was just waiting for Fitzgerald to ask the question. She never really seemed interested in him though, so Fitzgerald was soon to become heartbroken instead, which gives me one more chance.

"Ever since I laid my eyes on you, I felt my heart skip a beat. You are really my soulmate, my universe - Whenever I walk into a room, my mind seems to notice you immediately. Is this what true love really feels like? Can you feel this sort of connection between us..."

He handed Lyra the roses, before clutching her hands.

Lyra hesitated; She stared at Fitzgerald. Rejection due in three, two, one...

"I'm glad you see that between us, Fitzgerald. Because, I do too. You're the only one that I see in this world, and with you by my side, I'm confident we can prove that life is truly a romance film."

No, no, no. That was not supposed to happen. Lyra was not supposed to accept Fitzgerald. My heart sank. Everything flashed by so quickly - Fitzgerald was hugging her tight, and the next, he pulled Lyra in and placed a soft kiss on her lips.

I slammed my locker as tears welled up in my eyes. I knew he would never be with me, but it still hurt.

"Hey. Are you okay?"
