Holy shit, I did it - I graduated college. I can't believe that after 18 years of education, I'm just done. My friends pulled me out of my thoughts when they all squashed me into a group hug. "Dakota! Can you believe this? We're finally done" Jenna exclaimed while Gabrielle and Mona continued to hug me, squealing. I've known Jenna since I was a freshman here, she was my first roommate and since that year, we have been best friends. Gabrielle and Mona were roommates in the same dorm hall. We had met them at one of the floor meetings, where they try to help the newcomers feel more comfortable. Ever since, we've been four peas in a pod together. "Ahhh I know! We did the damn thing" I smiled as I hugged them back with the same enthusiasm. We've been through so much together within these past four years, growing with each other and learning from our mistakes. We really did do it together and created the best memories, I'm not sure if I can give that up so easily, I thought sadly.
Just then, my parents interrupted us. "Oo stay like that so I can take a picture" my mom said while at the same time my dad told us congratulations. "Mom, if you would've just taken the picture and not said anything, we would still be doing the same thing but more candid" I explained while I laughed. "Oh hush and get together again" and we followed her orders. My mom was a sweet woman, always supporting me and checking me when I needed it. My dad was a strong man and had a good heart, always being there for me. What can I say, I'm a daddy and a mommy's girl.
After taking pictures with my family, my friends, and some more of my friends, my parents and I went to brunch, along with my three best friends and their families. It was really nice that the four families got to hang out together and get along, they became really good friends with each other as well. Whenever the four families got together, you knew it was going to be a party. At brunch, we all got mimosas, celebrating our college graduation and new beginnings. My God did we get plastered. That's what I liked the most, we were all so comfortable and used to this that we didn't mind getting drunk with our parents or our friends parents, considering they were just as bad. I kept trying to order us more rounds of mimosas, trying to make the brunch last as long as it could because once it ended, it was back to reality. The reality was that my friends and I went to college in Georgia, where my family is from, and I had to pack to move to Chicago with Jenna. Gabs and Mona had promised us that they'll come visit and move out there with us eventually, but the four of us living together and being around each other 24/7 was soon coming to a halt.
"No! No more mimosas Dakota, I can't do it", Gabrielle said while using my mom as a stabilizer. "You heard her Dakota", Mona's dad said, "We need shots". We all laughed at Mona's dad and Gabby's frowning face since nobody was on her side. And just like that, we continued to drink and have fun together.
~Hey guys, this is my first story so if I made errors please let me know! I'm not a good writer but thought I'd give it a shot with having nothing to do during this pandemic ahahah
