Pairing: Dragon King!Bakugou Katsuki x Mermaid!Reader

-

You two were complete opposites. Dragons were the king of the skies, and mermaids were the ruler of the seas. Bakugou would have never expected to fall in love with a mermaid, and he thought that most of them were song-singing happy-go-lucky creatures. Dragons were never really great in the water anyways, and the only connection he had to the sea were the water dragons that coexisted with your species.

Other than that, he never would have expected someone like you to be a mermaid. You were a princess, not quite the next in line for the throne, but you were high up there in your ranking. Furthermore, you were obsessed with the land and sky, unlike your comrades who feared anything that was outside of the water.

He often found you peeking your head out of the water as he soared through the skies on dragon. Mermaids were rare to see, especially for land people such as himself, but he practically saw you everyday. He would just ignore you, brushing you off. Maybe he was just crossing your territory and you were trying to observe him carefully?

It wasn't until he had finally talked to you once he realized that you were indeed different from what the rumors said about mermaids. He had met his fair share of mermaids, mainly during territorial encounters, but no one was like you.

It was an early misty morning at the seas. The wind was furious and cold, waves roaring harshly as they beat against the rocks. Bakugou was patrolling his borders on his dragon, watching the empty beaches before him. Just as he was about to turn around, he heard a painful roar from below. It seemed like one of his dragons were being attacked, and he quickly swooped in to save them.

Before he could reach them, he saw a figure quickly dash towards the humans trying to harm the dragon. Before he could even land, he found the two tied up, constrained by seaweed and old rope.

That was when he saw you up close for the first time. You were clad in nothing but a long white dress, the wet fabric sticking to your skin as you held the long trident in your hand. You weren't looking at him, but at the blue dragon that laid there on the beach, drenching the sand and water with it's own blood.

He watched as you set the trident down, bringing your hand up to the wound of the dragon. He couldn't see what was going on, as you were faced away from him, but he couldn't take his eyes off of you and the way the dragon's wound healed up from your powers.

"You-" Bakugou let out and you quickly whipped your head towards him. "How the hell did you do that?!" He had heard of healers, but they were incredibly rare in this world.

You were instantly on alert as you flipped yourself around to look at the intruder. Your eyes then widened once you realized that it was the dragon lord himself, and you found yourself panicking instead. Before he could even react, you had dashed towards the shore, diving back into the water, but not before he caught sight of the tears on your face.

Mermaid tears. They could heal any illness or injury and were extremely rare to retrieve. Mermaids were so recluse because people often sought after these tears, selling at an extremely high price.

"Oi-!" He called out, watching as you made a break from him. Staring at the misty shore, the haze blocking his view, his eyes scanned for any sign of your mysterious figure before he let out a sigh, realizing that you were indeed a mermaid. Your species rarely come on to land, let alone get into physical combat. Mermaids were known to be gentle and passive creatures, only intervening when there is a threat to your population.

The blue dragon before him had then started to stir, and Bakugou had snapped out of his thoughts to pay attention to one of his own. Recognizing its master instantly, the creature got up and rubbed its head against Bakugou affectionately.
