I awoke with a silent scream, as the cryogenic process was interrupted. My pod rumbled with force, jogging my eyes open, seeing the blurred date in front of me. "We still have almost 6000 light years to go.." I thought. I then realized I was being dragged from my pod, being forced to walk across the oddly warm metal floor. My captain shook me harshly, clearing my vision a bit as well as the lack of hearing. Multiple warning sirens were going off in the ship, the floor rumbling. "There has been a breach! We are loosing oxygen at a critical rate, we have to use the escape pods!" He shouted at me, over the deep rumble. I simply nodded, regaining my strength slowly as we ran to the docking bay for the pods. I quickly realized they were damaged, all but one. "Where's the rest of the crew?" I asked. My captain bowed his head in sorrow. "I'm not going to leave without you captain!" I shouted as a loud explosion was heard, the air pressure falling by the second. My captain forced open the door to the large pod, forcing me in before slamming it behind me. I looked back in horror, to see him mouth, "I'm sorry." As the ship went up In flames. As he took his final breath, he hit the eject button on the wall, my pod being flung out into the abyss. As I got a good look at the ship as I was flying away, I realized what had happened. We had been hit by a large asteroid, most of the hull destroyed. A single tear ran down my face as I mourned, for my crew, for my captain. I knew there wasn't anything I could do to save them, so I did the only thing I could. I set a scan for hospitable planets, or other ships in the system close enough to reach within a few years. After doing so, I sat on the cold metal floor, staring out into space.
