As the sun rose higher in the sky and the birds began to chirp their salutations, Lacey noticed that the John's outline began to shimmer, his form becoming more see through by the minute. His black hair seemed to grey and his blue eyes lost much of their light. The colors of his uniform though already grey seemed even more muted. The yellow braid at his shoulder fading to the color of dead grass. "You seem to be fading away." She finally blurted out.
He smiled sadly at her before replying. "It takes a lot of energy to appear solid. I've grown tired." His wide shoulders seemed to slump as he turned his face up to the sky. "Perhaps I should walk you to your car."
"It won't start. Dead battery." She kicked a rock from the path. "Going to drain my bank account to get it towed."
"Well you may be in luck, I've got a bit of energy left. Meet me at the truck?" He winked as he vanished, leaving her alone among the headstones.
Shaking her head in disbelief, she made her way through the headstones back to her truck. The sun warm on her back.
