Insane. Absolutely insane.
"Oh my God"
"That response is to be expected. I mean, you just found out your whole life is a lie"
"Not now!" This shut him up. "So you're telling me that I'm some freak show with special powers to see people's dreams?"
"Yes, I suppose I am implying that." I was pacing back and forth in front of the bench, trying to process the information.
"Okay, then why don't I remember the dreams?"
"See, that's the issue. I don't exactly know. It's assumed that a rival of mine took them"
"They took my dream?"
"Yes, we think"
"We? Who's we?"
"The people I'm working with. We have a goal of using your powers as a solution"
"A solution? What's the problem?"
"Well, let's just say you aren't from here. You are in fact from another land that is currently losing a terrible war. We intend to use you to stop it." No comment. "You are the key."
"How's is seeing people's dreams going to stop a war?"
"Because, that's not all you can do. Dream seers have unique powers that prove very useful in the given situation"
"For example?"
"For example, you have the ability to control minds"
"Okay, so even if this is true. Even if I'm a Dream Seer, why me? Why not someone else?"
"You don't get it do you? There is no one else. You are last of your kind."
Oh shit.

"What about Megan? What is she?" I wanted to hear about her. I wanted to know she was safe.
"She's like you in some ways. Except she doesn't see dreams, she reads thoughts. And occasionally, someone of her kind can use the shear power of mind to move objects."
"So is she like, telepathic?"
"Yes, you could say that."
"Is she alone too? I mean, is she the last one?"
"No, but I'm afraid that no one is lasting very long in our land. They could go extinct if we don't put a stop to the fighting." I nodded.
"Why do the people working against you want me?"
"They have the same common goal as us, peace, but we fear their methods of doing so might lead to more casualties than we care to have"
"I have to tell Megan,"
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that, it would most likely cause your friend more harm to know the truth than to be in the dark"
"But she deserves to know what she is!"
"And she will, in due time, but right now it's not safe" I stood up and looked down at him.
"No, no more cryptic messages and "in due time"'s. I'll help you, but you better get one thing straight if we are going to get along; we do this my way. And my way is with my best friend at my side!"
"I really don't think-"
"I don't care what you think! She was fine before you waltzed into town. We were normal. You can tell me what to do to end your stupid war, but you cannot and will not tell me to leave my friend in the dark. Are we clear?" He sighed, but nodded.
"Fine, tell your little freak what she is. But if something happens to her, it will be on your head"
