(Y/n)'s POV
I stood outside of the fake city, eyes wide as I looked at its enormous size. U.A was really an impressive school; it was able to have multiple units of these mock cities, not to mention almost all of the teachers are pro-heroes. Before I started daydreaming about all the epic fights that would occur at this school, my attention was drawn by multiple whispers and insults directed toward a certain contestant. It was a broccoli-haired boy that was shaking nervously.
"That kid was acting like an idiot back at the front gate."
"I guess that's one less rival to worry about."
I growled lightly in annoyance, knowing full well the feelings caused by someone calling you weak. They didn't even know this person, and yet they were judging him. That's what made me angry.
"All of you need to shut up," I said loudly, speaking my thoughts. I looked over to the green-haired boy. He looked surprised that I said something on his behalf. "Just because someone is timid, doesn't mean they're weak. Now stop judging books by their cover, or you'll regret it." There was stunned silence, but nobody said anything afterward. Everyone just focused on getting ready for the exam, like they should have been doing in the first place.
"Th-thanks," a voice said from beside me. I turned my head and saw the green-haired boy that I spoke up for.
"There's no need to thank me," I replied honestly, shrugging my shoulders. "They were annoying me, so I spoke up. That's all." The boy shook his hands in front of him, nervously laughing. It looked like he was about to say something when Present Mic's voice blared through the speakers around the campus.
"And... Begin!"
I looked around and saw no one moving, a little shocked about the sudden start. I took this to my advantage and shoved my way to the front, running past the open gates into the exam site. My head start didn't last long though, as everyone awoke from their daze at Present Mic encouragement. They pushed past each other and dashed to find the robots first. I laughed to myself and looked behind me, but I couldn't see the broccoli-haired boy that I was looking for.
I shrugged it off and make a sharp turn into an alley. I follow the path of back streets until I came upon a small group of robots. I smirked and took a step forward, gathering water from the air and turning it to tentacle-like whips around me. As a two-pointer got close, I flicked my wrist and one of the whips sent it crashing into the corner of one of the brick buildings. A couple more hits and it was down for good. For the next two, I gathered the water into a wave and drowned the robots, causing them to short-circuit and collapse to the ground.
----
By the time the practical exam was almost over, I had around 50 points, if I did my calculations correctly. But if I'm to honest, I am not the best at doing mental math . . .
I was about to move back toward the middle of the fake city, the ground began to shake, almost making me fall over. That would have been embarrassing . . . to be able to take on robots only to be taken down by something like the ground . . .
I regained my balance and looked in the direction I was headed. Emerging from the ground was a giant -- no, a freaking giant -- robot, the number zero painted on its flanks. It towered over the top of the buildings, and it toppled them as it moved.
"That's the zero-pointer?!" I yelled, surprised that the school would add something that could severely hurt us. I was about to join in all the others that ran frantically to the exit, but I stopped when I saw a girl trapped in the rubble caused by the giant robot. Without thinking, I pivoted and ran to help her. As I ran, I saw a shadow pass over-head. The boy from earlier was flying through the air, traveling toward the zero-pointer. I shook my head to regain a proper state of mind, sliding down to my knees in front of the brown-haired girl.
"Sorry, you might get a little wet," I apologized as I began to free her. Concentrating the best I could in this situation, I pooled together water from the atmosphere in-between the girl and the asphalt on top of her. When there was enough, I shot my hands outward, making the water explode like a geyser, lifting the rubble long enough for me to pull her out. The only problem left was the robot that was about to step on us. I shielded my head in preparation, but instead, I heard a loud boom.
I looked up and saw the humongous to fall backwards, its face smashed to pieces. And falling to the ground was the green-haired boy. I know I said to not judge a book by its cover, but I was surprised that he was able to take that thing down. I would have been surprised in anyone could.
"We have to help him!" the girl next to me exclaimed. "He isn't slowing down!"
"My water won't be able to help in this situation . . ." I told her, looking down in shame and in thought. I couldn't think of any way that we could impede his fall, not at the speed that he's falling. When I looked up again, I saw the girl struggling to get on a part of one of the robots. "Um . . . need some help, there?" I asked, slightly confused at what she was doing.
"Please." With that I gave her a boost to the top of the part. With a simple touch of her hand, it began to levitate higher and higher off of the ground. I stared in awe at her quirk, but it seemed she was getting to her limit, everything seemed shaky and unbalanced. As the two got closer to each other, she swung her hand and made contact with his face. I cringed at the sight . . . that had to have hurt. But, I guess it is better than if he hit the ground. The two stayed suspended in the air for the couple of seconds before they both fell. I finally let go of a breath that I wasn't aware that I was holding. Geez, what a way to end the exam, huh.
I fell to the ground out of exhaustion and something I couldn't describe. Soon my silence turned into laughter, growing from a quiet chuckle to loud roar. I didn't know why I was laughing, but I couldn't help it. Soon I was on my back, holding my stomach that was hurting from all the laughter.
"Are . . . Are you okay?" I turned my head to the green-haired boy that laid nearby.
"I should be the one to ask you that. you're the one with three broken limbs." Though I said it in a joking manner, he still flinched at my response. It must be a sore subject, which I completely understand, so I dropped it. "It sounds like Recovery Girl is on her way, so everything will be good as new!"
While he was getting all fixed up, I stood and made my way to check on the brown-haired girl that was still flopped over the robot part. "Good job," I said with a smile. I reached out my hand, and once she took it, I helped her to stand up. "My name is (L/n) (Y/n), by the way."
"Uraraka Ochaco. It's nice to meet you, and thanks for helping me back there." I waved my hands in front of me, as if to say it's nothing. How do I tell her that I'm not sure what I was doing?!
"Oh, um, there's no need to thank me. Really," I say. "I'm gonna go, I have a friend to meet up with. I hope to see you later!" With that, I turned around, waving at the two before running toward the exit.
