CHAPTER TWO

“While we are being fascinated by tales of famous serial killers and how they were brought to justice, the real serial killer goes about his business with hardly a thought of being caught.”

 - Paul Brown (Entertainer)

Nothing seemed to link the two women. They lived away from each other, family had no relations, no one on either side knew the other side… they had no similarities in appearance, no hang outs or areas of work that linked. No connection in friends or anything from the looks of it. Shield had gotten a warrant to subpoena all records related to the women’s lives such as phone, bank, credit cards etc.

The scenes captured in the images were disgusting. Skin crawling cruelty controlled by rambling madness. Both women had been tied with their hands above their heads over some kind of railing or rafter, the first a stair cases railing, the second a celling rafter. The ropes were custom made, a woven concoction of nylon, cotton and metal wire that dug into the victims’ wrists and ankles whenever they moved. They were tied up as if caught in the out jump of a star jump, an “X” of torment.

They were both naked besides a pair of panties, one white cotton, and the other blue lace. No sexual crimes were committed, but that didn’t make it any less sick. From toe to head there were precision cuts on each of the women, some deep and others shallow. It seemed to make no sense, just random cuts and slashes to inflict pain and blood loss. The women had both had small cuts put just inches below their throats where the killer had stuck the parchment to the blood as it clotted slightly. Upon the parchment were a few words for each woman, written in their own blood and seemingly a title for his sick excuse of “art”.

Talia Novelta-Bronwil’s parchment letter read:

ART - Aroma: Smelling the Scents.
